Li Caneli Primitivo 2012 8,50

Additional Information:

For over three generations, the wise experience handed down from Grandfather Francesco and Dad Angel, our company produces grapes from vineyards owned in the heart of Salento. The company is located in the province of Taranto, in the municipality of Torricella, typical area of Primitivo di Manduria, about 3 km from the Ionian Sea, in contrada "Cameli" and "Janni", from which the name of our best wines derives

The company has a total area of approximately 20 hectares of vines, and produces only Primitivo di Manduria. The vineyards, planted mostly with "Apulian sapling", growing on average clay soils and soils of "terra rossa", enjoying the sun as well as gentle and breezy winds; those factors alone, already favor the production of top-quality grapes and shades.

Aided by this favourable terrain and climate I and my Brothers Francesco and Valentino, take care personally of the cultivation of the vineyards that is executed with modern techniques, but with the utmost attention to ecological and biological balance, and with great respect for the environment and for the plants.

The work in the vineyard is meticulous: after the careful pruning phase, in good time, we proceed to a thinning out of bunches and to their exposure to the Sun to have a selected daily production 50-60 quintals per hectare. The harvest is done by hand, with attention and delicacy, and with a meticulous selection of the best grapes. The fermentation and vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks, as well the maturation

The whole manufacturing cycle, with a particular attention to a careful selection of grapes, is directly managed by the Ghione family."The quality of the wine is done in the vineyard", this is our motto. The work in the land follows the ancient paces of nature, the phytosanitary regime is closely controlled in such a way to guarantee a healthy and genuine product. Treatments are only carried out if necessary and always with certified parameters and tools to avoid harmful wastage. High quality standards are maintained in the cellar, all the work is carried out by enologist using the best technologies in order to offer a flawless product. The production includes DOC and DOCG wines such as Barbera, Dolcetto, Freisa, Chardonnay, but above all Moscato d‟Asti, we are placed in the most historical “cru” of this grape.

Additional Information Tenuta San Luciano and its village have distant origins. An extraordinarily fertile land, the products of which were already very well known in ancient times along the way which was to become the Roman Cassia road. The position, the residential settlement and the archaeological findings show how the common historical matrix has here proved a more striking and topical feature. Located in a dominant position, surrounded by woods and “cavalpoggio” cultivations which are arranged over the top of the hills and which were already extensive in the 17th century, San Luciano has a small Church with a beautiful and precious Altar painting representing the Madonna with child. From the top of the hill, along rows of cypress trees, the view reaches a fountain of the Garibaldi period, built in 1866. The Ziantoni family, who have been working in the wine field since the beginning of the 19th century, moved in 1972, following Ovidio Ziantoni‟s decision, from the Latium hills to those, which are nothing less in generosity and harmony, to Toscany and purchased the San Luciano property. The firm which covers an area of about 100 hectares, is located in the relaxing hills of Monte S. Savino (Arezzo) and is within the Valdichiana D.o.c.(Controlled origin) wine area. It is well served by an excellent road network (A1 and E78).

Amalia wines originate with the work in the vineyard, with the earth, and conclude in the winery, where technical innovation gives careful support while maintaining the respect for tradition.

The decision to concentrate on quality, to create, from a productive point of view, something unique and yet still capable of expressing the values of the territory and culture of Langhe, has allowed us to produce wines with important organoleptic qualities – warm, intense, complex and yet balanced.

"We want to keep to a minimum the use of chemical products in the management of the vineyards, preferring to study, and so predict, the behaviour of the pathogenic agents of the vines, in order to carry out specifically designed treatments and choosing to carry out attentive manual cultivation of the vines".

It still maintains the original vitrified cement tanks, successively modernized with an up to date cooling system. In more recent time we added several fermentation tanks in stainless steel, all connected to our controlled cooling system. The lowest part of the cellar has been dedicated to our aging rooms, fully equipped with barriques for the refinement; next to it we have our new tasting room where we welcome friends and customers. The cellar‟s roof is made of solar panels which provide all the energy necessary and assure a low environment impact.

Additional Information

The Tenuta di Frassineto has planted out (in 2004/2005) 30 hectares of vineyards in the province of Arezzo, in the centre of the Val di Chiana, with the aim of producing wines of the very highest caliber and valorising a territory that up to now has not expressed its real value. These characteristics have focused the choice on varieties that express themselves at their best in these conditions. In effect, the corporate philosophy gravitates entirely around quality, regulating the production of grapes per plant every year through the thinning out of the buds in springtime and of the bunches with the approach of the harvest. Our Oenologist is Dr. Riccardo Cotarella.

The history of the Bixio family begins in Soave, a small village near Verona. A high rank military from Genoa, named Nino Bixio, was fighting at the time alongside Garibaldi in the battle of Custozza, near Verona on 24th June 1866. After the glorious battle, he met and entertained a relationship with a local noble women that gave him a child named Alfonso, who later managed to acquire some vineyards in the area that today is the classic area of Soave allowing four generations to cultivate that very same piece of land. This why, the Bixio family has gained considerable experience in the local winegrowing traditions. Today, the Azienda Agricola Bixio is a modern reality in the wine landscape, who not only embraces and promotes the traditional products of the area, but also uses the latest technology to guarantee high standards in quality control. Thanks to the experience of Ottavio Bixio, the family winemaking tradition has been handed down with love and passion to their sons and daughters. Nowadays the competence of first son Emilio Bixio (general manager and aenologist) and the commitment of the whole family, taking part of the company in every department, made products of Azienda Agricola Bixio some of the most prestigious in Verona area.

Additional Information

The land and the vineyards of the Montemaggiore farm are located in the heart of the Tuscany region, on the hills half-way between the provinces of Siena and Arezzo. They overlook the so-called “crete senesi” – the unusual natural “lunar landscape” created by prehistoric erosions on sand and clay, namely great gashes like open wounds of the land – as well as the century-old woods and pine forests. The alternation of olive groves and rows of vines creates a charming and multifarious landscape which is both sweet and wild. The farm is located in Capraie (in the province of Arezzo), four kilometres from the village of Palazzuolo, 20 minutes by car from Arezzo and Siena and less than a hour from Florence and Perugia. The 2,000 hectares of land, vineyards (75 hectares), olive groves, woods of Turkey oaks, oaks, chestnuts and cluster pines also host our three villages, namely Palazzuolo Vecchio, Montemaggiore and Podere Casanova, with a swimming pool, a synthetic grass tennis court, two luxury villas with swimming pool and spa. For centuries the district in which the Montemaggiore farm is located has been an important junction between the Maremma region and the coastal and hilly areas. Many of our country houses were built with the remains of the first buildings which, owing to the ongoing struggles between Siena and Arezzo, were destroyed even though they lay on top of the hills. For example, Palazzuolo Vecchio was a small castle built for sighting purposes. While choosing crops and the land where to grow them we have tried to focus on local traditions. All our produce is grown without using chemical substances, neither for pesticidal treatments, nor for manuring and fertilizing. This decision has also been favoured by the great altitude which ensures lower incidence of vine and olive tree diseases.

Villa le Vigne is a farm situated in a special location between Florence, Siena and Arezzo. It includes vineyards, olive groves and a typical Tuscan style complex containing six apartments sleeping up to 27 people. Villa Le Vigne's sucess comes from a long history that began over 80 years ago by our grandfather Armando, who made wine from the farmers grapes. Today the company is based on a philosophy that aims to offering the true Tuscan essence in its aromas, taste, and atmosphere. All wines are the results of a careful grape selection process and are aged first in French oak barrels and then in bottles. In addition to this, the farm offers a very limited production of top quality olive oil and honey in keeping with the farm philosophy. The accomodation facility was developed by renovating a typical Tuscan farmhouse while maintaining the structure's architectural characteristics and only using materials in tune with this land's traditional style. The complex also features a panoramic swimming pool, a large park and a tavern. The result is authentic charm, with colours and details recalling the very essence of a region that is the only one of its kind in the world. From Villa Le Vigne it is easy to reach the Chianti area, the areas many outlet stores are and, in less than an hour, all major Tuscan art cities.

Our winery is in Cortona (Arezzo, Tuscany) - we produce Syrah in 4 different interpretation. Our target is to produce wines that are absolutely artisanal, working always and only manually, at every step of the way, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, with respect for the environment, for the earth, and for its fruits, in order to create wines “with a soul”, not at all standardized ones.It is our conviction that such a method of operation is the best way to respect, and to please, not only nature and its fruits, but those as well who will be enjoying our wines. We work in a simple, ethical way. And we firmly intend to remain just this way forever.

We produce 8 different wines white Doc and red IGT wines made with Sangiovese and other tuscan not common and ancient grapes such as Pugnitello and Fogliatonda. We also love to do experiment with no local grapes (Semillon, Incrocio Manzoni, Gewurtraminer, Nero D'avola etc..) but we mainly focus our passion to our local grapes and specially, in the latest years, on Pugnitello variety. This year our Pugnitello wine "Leopoldo" has been selected in the top 100 within the "X selezione di Vini di Toscana", moreover the Touring Club wines guide 2013 wrote it's the best Pugnitello of Tuscany. We produce around 35.000 bottles year doing a selection of the best grapes of our vineyards. We usually use no more than 7 hectars of our total 35 hectars. We sell to another winery the grapes we don't use. We produce 8 different labels: 1 white, 1 rosé, 4 red, 2 dessert wines. All our wines are well received from different wine guides and magazines including Winespectator.

THE WINERY: More info at www.facebook.com/LeSenate. LE SENATE: a name imbued with history, tradition and terroir. Until the seventeenth century it was customary in our region to divide the land around castles into senaite or senate, concentric bands radiating out from the city walls, used to assign a value to the plots. The term is derived from the Longobard snaida, meaning “cut, border”. As Professor Rossi explains in his book Altidona da castello a paese, “Each of these bands specializes in certain crops . . . determining their value for tax purposes. The first senaita is occupied by vegetable gardens, while the second and third are planted prevalently with vineyards and olive groves”.

Our winery‟s logo, which highlights the second senata, represents the old custom of marking the land, the same land that we lovingly and respectfully work today.

WINE DESCRIPTION: Ours are true bordeaux-style wines produced in the undiscovered Le Marche region of Italy. The winery is located on a plane overlooking the Adriatic Sea, whose breezes caress the vineyards. Our land has been wine country since the Roman age. Our silt and sand-based soil, containing a layer of calcium carbonate concretions, provides the wine with very special characteristics. Our wines are bodied, structured, smooth and destined to appeal to the consumers for many years.

BARBULA: The name comes from inscriptions on the remains of the amphorae, used in classical times to transport wine, which came to light near our vineyards. This full-bodied, plush-textured wine is exceptionally approachable and instantly appealing. Further cellaring will coax out even more seductive sensations.

CACINELLO: Our signature wine embodies the Le Senate vision, born of passion and an unswerving determination to honour our land with a wine that can stand as its finest expression. Such is our respect for the territory that we have named that wine “Cacinello”, from the term used by local farmers for the peculiar concretions that have always been a feature of the terrain. “Cacinello” limestone imbues our signature wine with its unique poise, soft mouthfeel and gracefully contoured elegance before velvet-smooth tannins and enfolding persistence round off an unparalleled sensory experience.

Additional Information

Scacciadiavoli is one of the oldest estates in the Montefalco area. The name Scacciadiavoli, or “drives away devils,” is derived from an ancient village which was located at the edge of the estate, where a man lived who was believed to be an exorcist. Built in the second half of the 19th century, the winery has been recently remodeled with modern machinery and practices. In the second half of 20th century, Amilcare Pambuffetti, the grandfather of the owners today, acquired the winery. At the moment the estate covers 130 hectares, for which 35 hectares are vineyards. The annual production is 250,000 bottles. The soil is composed of clay shale; the exposition of the vines is East – Southeast; and the mean altitude is 400 meters above sea level. The reconversion and the development of the vineyards, have made possible the realization of almost 5000 plants per hectare, achieving the highest quality possible in the production of Montefalco wines. The wines produced by Scacciadiavoli are those typical of the Montefalco area: Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG dry and sweet, Montefalco Rosso DOC e Grechetto of Umbria IGT. During the last few years Scacciadiavoli has also presented the Spumante Brut Metodo Classico (Traditional Method) vinified from Sagrantino grapes. The sentiment “Sola Fides,” or “Faith Alone,” shapes the philosophy of Scacciadiavoli, which thrives on the potential of the territory, the microclimate, on the collaboration of experienced agronomists and oenologists, and the personal investment of the entire team of workers.

Our family vineyard business has been in existence for almost two hundred years. The farmer could told with the work and the feelings of men and women dedicated to the rows of vineyard shaping the hills of Santa Libera at Canelli, in the Asti region. We are situated between Langhe and Monferrato areas of Piedmont Region, north west Italy. Our vineyards covers approximately 10 hectares in Santa Libera, Canelli and Moasca in Asti countryside. These sweet and renowned “Sori” hills have a very special soil and perfect sunlight exposure – a condition of great benefit in the ripening process of the organically grown fruits of the vines. The vineyards closest to Canelli are the most suited to the cultivation of white grapes including the famous white moscato vines, while the land in the direction of Moasca, known for its Nizza Barbera, guarantee the ideal habitat for black grape vines. All the vines are cultivated organically and using the “Guyot” technique. Our wine estate has deep roots in the enological tradition of this corner of Piedmont. It was grandfather Aurelio with his wife Liggia (the grandparents) who started producing and selling quality wines. Now is managing the farmer their son Beppe with the wife Maria and their sons Annalisa and Daniele. In recent years we have introduced a number of changes to our cellar and production which are in constant evolution but our philosophy is the fidelity to our traditions while at the same time keeping an eye on modern developments. Our traditions include our cultural experience as acquired through the years – all of our winemaking technique and skills as handed down through the generations including those small, specialist and peculiar practices that we have acquired and developed through further application and that cannot be found in text books. The wine though is always a product of our organically grown vines… although we produce wine we also to live on our hills, this is also why I speak about organically vines.

Additional Information

The Rivetti Massimo is a family farm situated in Neive,on the hills of the Lower Langa, in Piedmont. The farm is owned by the family for four generation. There are twenty hectares divided into three farms: Froi, Garassino and La Palazzina. The farm makes some tipical wines such as Barbaresco, Barbera d'Alba, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto d'Alba, Langhe Rosso, Langhe Arneis, Moscato, Metodo classico sparkling wine. The vines are grown with the best respect for nature, avoiding chemical fertilizers, herbicides and, since 2009, we are the first company in the area to operate fully with the sexual confusion with the female hormones and adopting an integrated pest management for not using pesticides and for not having residues in wines. Now we are in conversion to become organic winery certificated. The wines are made with the respect of the traditions of Piedmont but advanced in terms of technology and with a low content of sulphites. The vinification includes the refinement in stainless steel, in big barrels and in barriques for the reserves. 40
