The Division manages agreements with 83 CSOs and the Office manages agreements with 14 CSOs, for a total of 97 CSOs. Pursuant to Section 20.058, Florida Statutes, each CSO is required to report information related to its organization, mission and finances to the Department by August 1 of each year. The reporting requirements include: . Name, mailing address, telephone number and website address of the organization; . Statutory authority or executive order pursuant to which the organization was created; . Brief description of the mission of, and results obtained by, the organization; . Brief description of the plans of the organization for the next three fiscal years; . Copy of the organization's code of ethics; and . Copy of the organization's most recent federal Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax form (IRS Form 990). Additionally, the Department is required to report by August 15 of each year to the Governor, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability the information provided by each CSO, including a recommendation with supporting rationale to continue, terminate or modify the Department’s association with each. Following the passing of 2014 legislation which created Sections 20.058 and 112.3251, Florida Statutes, the Department continued to work with the CSOs to generate awareness and compliance with these new requirements. To ensure compliance with the new laws, CSOs were provided with information on the new requirements, a report template, model code of ethics and instructions for submitting the required documents. Because of this ongoing effort, the Department received the required information from 97 of its CSOs for this annual report. Support Organization Reports Each of the CSO reports include three components: Main Report, Code of Ethics and an IRS Form 990, 990-EZ, 990-N or IRS Form 8868 a 990 extension. After receiving the documentation, the Department compiled the components into one .pdf document per CSO. As required, the .pdfs and links to each CSO’s website, if applicable, can be found on the Department’s website at: www.floridadep.gov/comm/comm/content/citizen-support-organizations-reports. Agency Recommendations The Department recommends to “continue” association with 97 CSOs.
