    Congressional Affairs Programming At A Glance 2016 - 2020 Congressional Delegations Congress-Bundestag Forum 2020 February 15-20, 2020 Elmau and Munich, Germany The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) and the Robert Bosch Stiftung Foundation (Bosch) hosted the 17th Annual Congress-Bundestag Forum. A bipartisan delegation of members of the U.S. House of Representatives met with members of the German Bundestag for a series of discussions on areas of mutual concern, such as: Asia in the transatlantic space, challenges to the West, European reunification after the end of communism, social cohesion, energy issues, and workforce development. Participants of the Congress-Bundestag Forum 2020 included Representatives Rob Bishop (R-UT), Bill Flores (R-TX), Mark Green (R-TN), Robin Kelly (D-IL), Brenda Lawrence (D-MI), Barbara Lee (D-CA), Debra Lesko (R-AZ), C. A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD), Eric Swalwell (D- CA), Mike Turner (R-OH), as well as fifteen members of the German Bundestag.     Welcome to the 2016 PNWA Annual Convention Dear PNWA Members, Welcome to Vancouver, Washington and to our 2016 Annual Convention! It has been a busy year in the Northwest, with a lot of activity at our ports, terminals and along our waterways. This is great news for our region and for PNWA, as we continue our successful advocacy for policies and projects which support economic development and the environment. I am pleased to report that our association continues to grow, welcoming nine new members this year. These new members are adding to our strength here in the region and in Washington, DC. A strong, diverse, vocal membership like we have at PNWA is so important as we look ahead to a new Administration, the usual uncertainty in federal funding, a changing regulatory climate, and much more. 2017 will be an incredibly important year for this group. With the coordinated efforts of our membership, from Southern Oregon to Northern Washington and all along the Columbia and Snake Rivers to Idaho, we are well positioned to navigate these challenges and opportunities.     September 3, 2020 Dr. Steven Dillingham Director United States Census Bureau 4600 Silver Hill Road Washington, DC 20233 Dear Dr. Dillingham: This letter is to inquire about the U.S. Census Bureau’s plans for accurately counting our country’s population in the 2020 Census. In California, nearly 15 percent of our residents remain uncounted, many in historically undercounted communities at risk of losing federal funding and resources. In light of the challenges created by COVID-19, the fires burning across California, and the recent decision to end counting operations early, we ask that you provide additional detail about how a complete count will be achieved. It is our understanding that with the shortened counting timeline, Census Bureau workers will need to visit 8 million more homes nationwide than in 2010, in just seven weeks instead of ten weeks. Data accuracy and review procedures for processing apportionment counts have also been reduced from six months to three months. Additional obstacles caused by COVID-19 include a higher number of people experiencing homelessness—an historically undercounted population—as well as difficulties with hiring and retention of census workers. Given these significant barriers to a fair and accurate census, we would appreciate answers to the following questions. With in-person counting operations cut short, the Census Bureau will likely need to utilize administrative records and statistical techniques to complete the enumeration.     2017 Political Contributions (January 1 – June 30) Amgen is committed to serving patients by transforming the promise of science and biotechnology into therapies that have the power to restore health or even save lives. Amgen recognizes the importance of sound public policy in achieving this goal, and, accordingly, participates in the political process and supports those candidates, committees, and other organizations who work to advance healthcare innovation and improve patient access. Amgen participates in the political process by making direct corporate contributions as well as contributions through its employee-funded Political Action Committee (“Amgen PAC”). In some states, corporate contributions to candidates for state or local elected offices are permissible, while in other states and at the federal level, political contributions are only made through the Amgen PAC. Under certain circumstances, Amgen may lawfully contribute to other political committees and political organizations, including political party committees, industry PACs, leadership PACs, and Section 527 organizations. Amgen also participates in ballot initiatives and referenda at the state and local level. Notes • Current Armed Services Committee (SASC) Chairman John McCain (R-AZ) continues to receive treatment for brain cancer in Arizona. Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) has served as acting chairman and is likely to continue to do so in Senator McCain’s absence. Your partnership has helped hospitals, health systems and health care providers continue to meet the needs of their patients and communities. Hospitals and health systems in Minnesota and across the U.S. received just over $100 billion in Medicare accelerated and advanced payment loans during 2020 to help fight COVID-19 (section 3719 of the CARES Act). Also last year, Congress extended the repayment terms of the expanded accelerated and advanced payment policy for Medicare providers, which was a tremendous help to providers.
