MISSION STATEMENT

he Parish of Kilmovee is a Christian Community, committed to making everyone welcome through meeting in liturgy, prayer and friendship as we bear witness to the love and compassion of Jesus T Christ. Fáilte roimh gach éinne. Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time – 16th June THE WASHING OF FEET

hen Jesus took the jug and basin in the Upper Room you’d wonder how many remembered today’s Gospel Passage when the woman W washed the feet of Jesus?

Chances are the link wasn’t made but it seems likely there was a link. The woman before us in this weekend’s liturgy let her tears fall on the feet of Jesus and dried the tear soaked feet with her hair. People looked on disapprovingly but Jesus called them to a recognition of the woman and her desire for forgiveness. Her act of humility touched the heart of Jesus and he responded with words of forgiveness. Her life would never be the same.

In the Upper Room, when Jesus took basin, jug and towel he too was calling the disciples to an awareness of the need to be humble, the urgency for forgiveness and to an on-going and committed service of one another and all people.

The washing then, be it with the tears of the woman or the poured water from the hands of Jesus remains a model for us all. We must remain committed to looking after one another, not least the most vulnerable and defenceless in our midst.

The message seems fairly clear.

We need to look after one another from head to toe. Rtin BIKE WEEK Commercial Horticulture based in To celebrate bike week Kilmovee Castlerea.
