Sandra 2014 President Elect of the Sandra G. Hassink, MD, FAAP, is the 2014 president elect of the Gibson American Academy of American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Hassink MD Director, Nemours Pediatric Obesity Dr. Hassink is the director of the Nemours Pediatric Obesity Initiative at FAAP Initiative, AI Dupont Hospital, A.I. Dupont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE which is part of the Wilmington DE Division of General Pediatrics. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has been a member of the AAP Task Force on Obesity, Delaware Chapter President, and District Chair for Region III. She is a Pediatric Consultant for the Delaware Office of Disability and a member of the Committee on Environmental and Public Health for the Medical Society of Delaware She has written several articles and books, including A Parent’s Guide to Childhood Obesity, Pediatric Obesity: Prevention, Intervention, and Treatment Strategies for Primary Care, and Clinical Guide to Pediatric Weight Management. Additionally, Dr. Hassink has collaborated in research efforts to identify pathophysiologic mechanisms of obesity, centering on the role of leptin. She is a frequent lecturer on the topic of childhood obesity, obesity prevention and weight management. Dr. Hassink received her medical degree from Vanderbilt Medical School and a Masters in Pastoral Care and Consulting from Neumann College. Shawn L. Chief, Section of Pediatric Hospital Dr. Ralston is currently section chief of Inpatient Pediatrics at the Ralston, MA Medicine Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth. She is editor-in-chief of Hospital MD Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Pediatrics, an AAP medical journal. She began her career as a hospitalist Center with a primary research interest in the clinical management of acute Associate Professor of Pediatrics viral bronchiolitis, the most common reason for hospitalization in young Geisel School of Medicine at children, which led to her current focus on waste and overuse in Dartmouth medicine. Robert Robert Dudas, MD Dr. Dudas is an Assistant Professor in the Division of General Pediatrics Dudas Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the University School of Associate Director Pediatric Medicine. He is a graduate of Rutgers College and the Johns Hopkins Clerkship JHUSOM University School of Medicine and completed a in pediatrics Director, Pediatric Hospital at . His scholarly interests are in health service delivery and medical education with a focus on simulation, clinical skills development and assessment. Dr Dudas has won institutional teaching awards from both medical students and residents and most recently received the 2013 Outstanding Achievement in Education Award from the Institute for Excellence in Education and the School of Medicine. Bernard Professor, Dermatology and Dr. Cohen is Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Cohen Pediatrics University School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Faculty, Pediatric Dermatology Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1977, completed his Faculty, Cutaneous Laser Center Pediatric Residency at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in 1980, Program Director, eLiterature served as Chief Resident in Pediatrics at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore Review (eMedical Dermatology in 1981, completed his residency in Dermatology at Johns Hopkins in Review) 1984, and served as Chief Resident in Dermatology during his last year Johns Hopkins Children’s Center of training. He was subsequently recruited to Children’s Hospital of 1800 Orleans Street, Room 2327 Pittsburgh where he served as Director of Pediatric Dermatology until Baltimore, 21287 1991 when he returned to Johns Hopkins. He has a special interest in infantile hemangiomas, vascular malformations, infections and infestations, other birthmarks, cutaneous laser surgery, medical education and imaging in dermatology.

Reid Assistant Professor Dr. Thompson completed his medical school from Wake Forest Thompson Pediatric University, Bowman Gray School of Medicine and residency at Johns Johns Hopkins Children’s Center Hopkins Hospital. He continued on to complete his Pediatric Residency Department Pediatrics followed by a Pediatric Chief Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Department of Anesthesiology and Engorn is currently pursuing advanced training in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Justin Jeffers Associate Professor, School of Justin Jeffers is an Associate Professor in the Division of Pediatric MD Medicine Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Khan is actively involved in teaching medical students and pediatric residents at the JHU SOM; she is the lead on communications within the Section on International Child Health of the American Academy of Pediatrics; course director for the Johns Hopkins annual symposium on Innovations in Pediatric Hospital Medicine; and serves as a Child Health Consultant for the World Bank. She is involved in a variety of quality and safety projects and groups within JHBMC. She is an active in her community as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for juveniles in the Maryland court system. Sheila M. Assistant Professor, Pediatrics Sheila Hofert is an assistant professor at Johns Hopkins School of Hofert, MD Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics. She practices at St. Agnes Medicine Hospital, where she is an attending physician for the pediatrics Director of Continued Medical residents and medical students from Johns Hopkins during their Education, Pediatrics St. Agnes Hospital community hospital in-patient rotation. Eric Assistant Professor of Pediatrics Eric Balighian is a pediatric hospitalist and pediatric emergency Balighian Johns Hopkins University School of physician at St. Agnes Hospital in Maryland. He also enjoys teaching MD Medicine medical students and residents at Johns Hopkins Hospital. His interests St Agnes Hospital include teaching clinical reasoning, the physical examination, 900 South Caton Avenue Suite 059, practical evidence based medicine, and simulated resuscitations. He Baltimore, MD grew up in Maryland and enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.

Sybil B. Children’s Hospital at Sinai Hospital Dr. Pentsil is an academic hospitalist and associate program director for Pentsil, M.D. Associate Program Director pediatrics at The Herman & Walter Samuelson Children's Hospital at Academic Pediatric Hospitalist Sinai. She obtained her MD and MPH degrees at Johns Hopkins 2401 W. Belvedere Ave. University, and went on to residency training in pediatrics at Sinai Baltimore, MD 21215 410-601-9000 Hospital. Sybil has worked extensively in community hospitals in the Baltimore area since 2000, and returned to Sinai in 2011 out of a desire to teach residents. She was the recipient of the 2014 Faculty Superstar Award and the 2014 Faculty Teacher of the Year Award. She has gained experience in preparing staff to deal with pediatric medical emergencies and is delighted to share these experiences in today's workshop.

Shahid Aziz, Chair Ethics Committee, Harbor and Dr. Aziz has been a board certified pediatrician and teacher for over 40 M.D. FAAP, Laurel Regional Hospitals years. He is the past chair of Pediatrics and Vice President of Medical FAAHPM Medical Director Pediatrics @ Affairs at Medstar Harbor Hospital. He is now a board certified hospice Hospice of Chesapeake and palliative care physician for children and adults. He is also the chair of Ethics committees at two local hospitals (Harbor and Laurel) and one hospice (Chesapeake). He serves as Clinical Teaching faculty at Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland and Medstar Harbor Hospital. His major interest is in end of life issues , palliative care and clinical ethics.

Andrea Assistant Professor, Pediatric Dr. Berry completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Berry MD Infectious Diseases Philadelphia and her fellowship at the University of Maryland. Dr. Berry directs the Pediatric Clinical Studies Group at the Center for Vaccine University of Maryland School of Development, University of Maryland. She conducts clinical trials Medicine designed to evaluate new and improved pediatric vaccines among children in Baltimore. In addition, she is conducting research on immune responses to malaria infection and vaccination.

Swathi Clinical Fellow Swathi Gowtham is a graduating Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellow at Gowtham, Division of Pediatric Infectious Johns Hopkins University. She will be practicing Pediatric Infectious MD Diseases Diseases at Geisinger Medical System in Pennsylvania after graduation Johns Hopkins University School of this November. Her research interests include infections in Medicine Immunocompromised patients, particularly with Herpes viruses.
