October 18th saw the end of the season as we crowned Darin Goldstein Mid-Amateur champion, at his home course of Bayonne Club. e MGA is blessed to be a part of golf in Met Area. We have historic golf courses, great corporate sponsors, the best volunteers in the business, and humble champions. What more does one need? We are very, very pleased with this season, and we hope you feel the same way! With that being said, we take a look back on what 2017 has delivered. It is hard to put into words what a tremendous season this has been. e 46th Walker Cup was held at the acclaimed Los Angeles Country Club, Sept. 9-10. Top amateur golfers from the faced off against a team of amateurs from Great Britain & Ireland. e Walker Cup is named aer the USGA President from1920, George Herbert Walker, who is Grandfather and Great-Grandfather to former U.S. Presidents George H.W. Bush & George W. Bush. On this year’s 10-man roster we had a familiar face, 2016 MGA Player of the Year, Stewart Hagestad. Stew competed in singles matches both days (going 1-1), and won the clinching point for Team USA on its way to a dominating 19- 7 victory. Congrats to Stew and the entire American Team!
