It is comprised of Japan Center East and Japan Center West, which embrace the Peace Plaza. The Peace Plaza, which hosts numerous events throughout the year, sits in between Japan Center East and Japan Center West and contains the iconic Peace Pagoda. Standing at 100 feet, the Peace Pagoda was donated in 1968 by the sister city of San Francisco in Japan, Osaka, as a gesture of goodwill. Japantown is the 8th most walkable neighborhood in San Francisco. The neighborhood has excellent public transportation and it is very bikeable.
