ALHAARTH BAHRI ELNADIM INTIKHAB MARJUMARJU

Hats off to …… ELNADIM

Irish raider ELLETELLE, 2yo by Elnadim , won the G2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot with a tremendous burst of speed to hold Starlit Spirit on the line. Elletelle missed the break but travelled well throughout the race putting in a brave effort in the final furlong. Her jockey Johnny Murtagh stated after the race “She’s a tough, hardy and genuine filly”.

Elletelle also finished a close third in the G2 Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket, and on her most recent outing, was placed in the G1 Phoenix Sprint Stakes at the Curragh, a good effort considering she was slow out of the stalls. She will now be aimed at the Cheveley Park at Newmarket, this being her final run of the year and her trainer is hoping she will be a Guineas filly for next year. Meanwhile Rakiza was placed in the Listed Prix Hampton in a blanket finish at Chantilly in June while Caldra was placed in the Listed Superior Mile at Haydock in September. Vattene was also placed in the Listed Premio Coolmore at San Siro.

ELNADIM, dual Champion Sprinter of Europe at three and four is also the sire of Group winners Pendragon, Wi Dud, Al Qasi and Caldra. ELLETELLE Al QASI , son of Elnadim , was an easy winner of the G3 Phoenix Sprint Stakes at the Curragh recently. He showed his liking for softer ground and proved this here in testing conditions. Racing towards the back of the field throughout, he started to make headway over a furlong out, stayed on well on the stands rail and was pushed out to win by 1 1/4 lengths from Evening Time. Al Qasi was also second in the G3 HBLB Hackwood Stakes at Ascot in July. He has been relatively lightly raced this season and may go for the Prix de la Foret later in the year.

His jockey Kerrin McEvoy was delighted with the win and stated after the race “I’m looking forward to riding him in some big races abroad”. (TDN). AL QASI Inside This Issue:

Tribute to IRISH VALLEY

IRISH VALLEY dam of Alhaarth was humanly put down due to the infirmities of old age in July at the age of 25. It was a sad loss for such a wonderful broodmare. Irish Valley (by Riverman ex Green Valley) produced 14 foals during her career as a broodmare, most notably her progeny included Alhaarth and Green Pola . Green Pola won the G3 Prix du Calvados and is the dam of Cape Lizburne , a G3 winner in Japan. Her sixth foal, a bay colt by Unfuwain turned out to be the great Alhaarth , who needs no introduction as he was a huge success on the racetrack and continues with his successful career as a stallion here at Derrinstown. This year’s Epsom Derby winner Authorized also comes from this wonderfully bred family. Irish Valley’s grandson Aqaleem won the G3 Derby Trial Stakes and was placed third in the G1 Epsom Derby this year. Irish Valley was retired in 2005 and spent the rest of her days at Twomeys Farm on Derrinstown’s Private Stud where she was given every care and attention by Assistant IRISHIRISH VALLEY VALLEY Stud Groom Deirdre Flannery. She will be greatly missed by all at Derrinstown. www.derrinstown.com [email protected] G2 Success for Intikhab with Red Evie

RED EVIE retained her unbeaten record at Newbury in the G2 in August. She was the backmarker throughout and with rain favouring her, timed his run to perfection with a late burst in the dying strides to win by a short head from Welsh Emperor. She produced an amazing turn of foot in this 7f contest and then returned to Group 1 company at Leopardstown in the G1 , finishing second to Echelon. She will now travel to France for the Prix de la Foret. Red Evie also won the G1 at Newbury earlier in the year which added to a tally of wins includes the G1 Matron Stakes, G3 and Listed .

This dual Group 1 winning daughter of Intikhab will be entered in the December Sales at Newmarket, where she is sure to be a huge attraction, as she will make a very valuable broodmare prospect for the future.
