Biographical Sketch Edward W. Schneider, a native of Chicago, was born on December 1, 1913. In 1936 he graduated from Loyola University Chicago, where he was a star athlete and president of the Monogram Club. From 1934 to 1942, and again from 1959 to 1960, he served as the Publicity Director at Loyola. In 1944 he joined the Tribune sports desk as a copy editor and reporter. In 1958 he was employed by Chicago’s American newspaper. At the American he became assistant Sunday sports editor. Schneider also served as a staff member for Chicago Today during his career. As a reporter Schneider covered a variety of sports including , , boxing, and . From 1956 to 1969 he served as secretary-treasurer for the United States Basketball Writers Association and as director of the American Writers Association. Schneider received several sports writing awards from the Illinois Associated Press Editors Association and an Oscar from the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials. Edward W. Schneider passed away on February 5, 1991, at the age of 77.

Subjects covered include Loyola University athletics and athletes; Monogram Club; Loyola Alumni Association; and the Loyola Athletic Hall of Fame.
