Yesterday, he showed that he wasn’t prepared for an event of that magnitude and Sri Lanka Cricket was reflected in poor light especially after captain Kumar Sangakkara had hoped that SLC’s awards scheme will match up to the prestigious Alan Border medal in Australia. We have time and again pointed out that in past Interim Committees the position of Secretaries were filled by men who champi- oned the cause of club cricket. Ranatunga’s grand contribution to domestic cricket was attending just one meeting of his club - Colts CC - for the whole of last year. The past Interim Committees had leading businessmen, some of them like Rienzie Wijetilleke and Hemaka Amarasuriya men of unquestionable repute as heads. Then there also was one Arjuna Ranatunga, a solid leader, a man who turned around Sri Lankan cricket and one who took great pride in being Sri Lankan.
