(News 4 & Fox 11) — Veterans Day 2018 takes place on Sunday, Nov 11, however this year, it is observed on Monday, Nov 12. The holiday honors military veterans who have served in the United States. In honor of the holiday, there are several events and deals taking place in northern Nevada throughout the weekend. Saturday, November 10 • In honor of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, the Nevada State Museum in Carson City will be hosting a free special event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. • The Carson Nugget is offering two free tickets for its Al Stewart concert on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 9 p.m. to active duty service members and veterans. These tickets also get a guest into the meet-and-greet with Stewart at 8:30 p.m. • This weekend Scouts from surrounding troops will be collecting filled grocery donation bags that they previously handed out on November 3 and 4 as part of the Catholic Charites of Northern Nevada. Collections times on Saturday are: 3:30 - 4:15 p.m. & 5:30 - 6:15 p.m. On Sunday: 7:30 - 8:15 a.m., 9:30 - 10:15 a.m., & 4:30 - 5:15 p.m. • The Atlantis Casino and Resort will be welcoming over 50 Honor Flight Veterans between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the buffet. • The Sun Valley General Improvement District and Washoe County Human Services are hosting a pancake breakfast and appreciation event at the Sun Valley Neighborhood Center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, November 11 • The City of Reno Veterans Day Parade will take place Sunday, November 11, 2018, at 11:11 a.m., rain or shine. The theme for the parade is “The Great War,” honoring the first Reno citizen to perish in World War I: Private First-Class Darrell Melville Dunkle. The parade begins at the Virginia Street Bridge in downtown Reno and ends at the 5th St./Virginia St. intersection. • Join Airport Officials and military supporters from the local community, at 4:15 p.m at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, Ski Statue to welcome home veterans from Honor Flight. Activities include music, Quilts of Valor, Paws 4 Passengers therapy dogs, and a military salute in tribute to their service. • The Nevada State Museum will be holding a “Bells of Peace” World War I commemoration on Veterans Day, at Loftin Park with their replica of the Liberty Bell. The bell tolling will begin at 11 a.m., following an opening welcome program at 10:40 a.m. • Virginia City salutes our veterans with their Sunday Veteran's Day Parade. • The Veterans Guest House is offering activities that take place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Activities include: An Open House and a free barbeque, Flu shots provided by Walgreens Pharmacy, and the Salute & Support Raffle. • The Nevada Humane Society is offering free pet adoptions for members of the military and their immediate families. Pets are available for adoption at both the Reno shelter, and the Carson City shelter. Both are open from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. • RTC Transit Services is offering free rides. Transit services will be operating on a regular schedule. • The Eldorado, Circus Circus and Silver Legacy are offering a free breakfast or lunch buffet at the Eldorado Buffet between the hours of 7:45 a.m. and 2 p.m. • Starbucks at the Eldorado and Silver Legacy will also offer a free 12 oz. coffee to Veterans. • Great Clips salons at Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Dayton & Fernley locations, are offering free haircuts. In addition, all non-veteran customers who get a haircut at a Great Clips salon can get a free haircut card they can give to a veteran as a thank you. Promotion runs Sunday and Monday. • Applebee restaurants located in Carson City, Reno and Sparks are offering a free meal to veterans and active-duty military. • Rail City Casino will offer a complimentary buffet with valid military ID from 2 - 9 p.m. • This weekend Scouts from surrounding troops will be collecting filled grocery donation bags that they previously handed out on November 3 & 4 as part of the Catholic Charites of Northern Nevada. The Monday brunch buffet is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the dinner buffet is from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Veterans and members of the military must show their military/veterans I.D. AND a Caesars Entertainment Total Rewards Card. • The Grand Sierra Resort Buffet is providing one free breakfast or lunch buffet. .

    CONSULTANT SERVICES FOR THE GAMING REGULATORY OVERSIGHT AUTHORITY Area 2: Fiscal and Capacity Requirements October 21, 2013 0 Table of Contents 1 Approach By direction of NH RSA 284-A, the New Hampshire Gaming Regulatory Oversight Authority has directed WhiteSand to prepare a report identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the 2013 NH legislative proposals as compared to the best and most relevant components of the regulatory provisions in the other comparator states. This part of the report addresses fiscal and capacity requirements: WhiteSand has approached this particular task using a formal methodology to determine market demand. We reviewed the specific demographics and other attributes of the gaming jurisdiction to be evaluated. This included, but was not limited to, population, income levels, age distribution, nearby competition and gaming tax rates. We evaluated these factors within ranges of 30, 60 and 90 miles of the proposed gaming facility general location. In order to provide a consistent measurement of demographics within a specific region we use distance radii from the region. Using distance rather than driving time eliminates fluctuations due to drive times, day of week, unpredictable events (e.g., accidents, weather, etc.) and other factors. Distance radii are translatable to drive times in most scenarios and provide more consistent results due to the reduction of unpredictability. Using this information, we then identifed a “Competitive Set” for the proposed gaming facility - other gaming properties to be compared based on similar demographics and characteristics. While the properties identified in the competitive set usually do not provide an exact match, they present enough similarities to evaluate market demand and estimate key financial statistics.
