A Specialist Language and Humanities College Headteacher: Mrs Helen Key MA (Ed)

10th July 2020 Dear Student Exams Update We hope you are well and keeping in good spirits. We appreciate your resilience regarding the cancellation of the Summer 2020 exam series; it has been extremely difficult for you, having worked so hard, to prepare for your exams and we know how disappointed you must be. There are still many details on which we are waiting news in respect of exams, both from Ofqual and the exam boards. However, we want to update you on the current position based on present information. Centre Assessed Grades and Ranking The school has forwarded your Centre Assessed Grades and rank information to the Boards. Teachers have closely followed the Ofqual guidance, and we have put rigorous procedures in place to ensure that the process has been holistic, balanced and fair. Full details of the process will be found shortly on the school website in the GCSE support section: http://www.chaileyschool.org/learning/gcse-support/gcse-summer-2020/ Results Day GCSE results day is on the original release date of: Thursday 20th August 2020 This will look different from previous years as we follow the current social distancing guidelines set by the Government. We are providing students with tutor group time slots to ensure that a limited number of students are on site at one time. If you intend collecting your results it is important that you attend in the correct time slot: Ashdown: 9.00 am to 9.20 am Caburn: 9.20 am to 9.40 am : 9.40 am to 10.00 am : 10.00 am to 10.20 am : 10.20 am to 10.40 am Students only will be allowed into the school building to collect their results, parents are asked to wait outside. Please make sure you use the hand sanitiser located to the left of the entrance doors in reception before entering the main building. Staff who are in contact with your results envelope will be wearing the appropriate PPE. We will be implementing a one-way system; please enter through the school reception, and head to the main hall. Students will collect their results then proceed through the canteen and exit from there. Edulink If you are unable to collect your results, they will be forwarded to all students via Edulink at 11.00 am. Contingency Results Day Plan Should the government re-introduce lockdown or further restrictions and it is not be possible for any students to collect their results from school, then results will be sent to all students via Edulink at 10.00 am on Thursday 20th August. Should a student wish to speak to a member of the Senior Leadership Team on the day, about their results, in the first instance please e-mail Mrs Adams ([email protected]) by 11.00 am with a contact telephone number and she will forward the details on to a member of SLT. Third Party Collecting Results If a student is unable to attend school to collect their results but a friend or relative is able to collect them, we will require a signed, written permission slip from the student, detailing the name of who will be collecting the certificate. The person collecting the certificate will need to bring photo ID with them such as a driving licence or passport.
