TEAMS • Consist of 4 or 5 teachers all located close together on one hallway. • Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled with the team teachers. • Teams are determined by the homeroom teacher. Why should my child be in band and/or orchestra?

• High school music students have been shown to hold higher (GPAs) than non-musicians in the same school. • Schools that have music programs have significantly higher graduation rates than those without programs • The American Music Conference reports that music-makers are 52% more likely to go on to college and other higher education than non-music makers! • Regardless of socioeconomic status or school district, students who participate in high-quality music programs score 22 percent better on English and 20 percent better on Math standardized exams.

Expect at least 75 minutes a night. • Tests, projects, quizzes are weighted. • Late work receives a deduction in grade or is not accepted. STUDY TIPS • Remind your child to use his or her planner. • Establish a homework routine with a regular time & place. • Have a place to put finished homework. • Stay organized. • Create a calendar for long-term assignments. CANVAS & OFFICE 365 CANVAS & OFFICE 365 •Check Canvas for grades, assignments, notes. •All students have access to the Office Suite – Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc. This can be downloaded on the home computer for free under the student’s Office 365 account. BYLD • Students are NOT allowed to have electronic devices such as cell phones unless they are being used for educational purposes in the classroom with permission from the teacher. • Students are responsible for their devices. • There are laptops, desktops, and computer labs available so students will have access to technology. COMMON BYLD ISSUES • Phones must be kept locked in lockers. If a student is using the phone inappropriately, then it will be taken up by the teacher. • Teachers will allow students to get their device as needed. • Please do not text or call your child on their phone during school hours. • Students may be written a pass to use the office phones. ATTENDANCE • Attendance is extremely important. • Please understand that your child should be here each day. • If your child is sick, then they need to bring a note with their name, the date of the absences, and the reason for the absence.
