Formed in 1976 in Hamburg, Running Wild were originally influenced by the likes of Judas Priest, Kiss and AC/DC but found everlasting fame when they pioneered the entertaining sub-genre after vocalist / guitarist Rolf Kasparek saw Roman Polanski’s movie Pirates whilst writing a song called for their 3rd studio . While the historical lyrics were very superficial at first, the lyrics for later were intensively researched, by Rolf Kasparek in particular. In addition to lyrics about pirates like Calico Jack, Klaus Störtebeker, or the little-known Henry Jennings, the band also addressed subjects like the Wars of the Roses, the Battle of Waterloo, or the colonization of the New World by the Conquistadors. Running Wild have recorded fifteen studio albums and are working on a new album for release in 2016. Riding The Storm (The Very Best Of The Noise Years 1983-1995) features killer tracks from Running Wild’s 9 albums for Noise Riding The Storm is one of 8 new 2CD and digital compilations released as part of the Noise Lebt reissue series.
