of decked timber from Yukon Forest Management Branch as per our legislated 500m3/year community use provision in the Forest Resources Act. The 69 decks of timber are located 5.7km up Bonanza Creek Road along the Bonanza Creek II Forest Service Road near Dawson City, Yukon. The timber was harvested in 2015 as incidental during the construction of the road.

The key goals of this project are to remove the decked timber from its current location and bring it to the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Settlement Land R-22 Land of Plenty Camp (53km travel one way).

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2016 P17 TWENTY YEARS AGO IN THE SUN

Originally printed September 20th, 1996

The Sun obtained funding in late 2009 from the City of Dawson, YTG’s Heritage Branch and the Community Development Fund to conserve and archive early issues and make them available once again in the public domain. This is a great resource for students, writers and historians, and also for prospective tourists with an interest in Dawson City’s life. Each month, we are re-printing our front pages from 20 years ago as a souvenir of our lively history. If you want to see page 2 and beyond, check out our website. Past issues are available there for download. Go to http://klondikesun.com. More will be added periodically when we have time! In 1996, we became a bi-weekly. Should 20 Years Ago be a feature of every issue of the Sun from now on? Let us know. P18 WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2016 THE KLONDIKE SUN Lions Undefeated in West Coast Soccer Tournament
