Jody David Armour is the Roy P. Crocker Professor of Law at the University of (USC). His expertise focuses on the relationship between racial justice, criminal justice, and the rule of law. He currently teaches criminal law, torts, and Stereotypes and Prejudice: The Role of the Cognitive Unconscious in the Rule of Law. Prior to USC, he practiced law as an associate with Morrison & Foerster and later joined Kirkpatrick & Lockhart. Previously, he taught at the University of California, Berkeley’s Boalt Hall, Indiana University, and the University of Pittsburgh.

Armour has published the award-winning book, ​Negrophobia and Reasonable Racism: The Hidden Costs of Being Black in America​; and articles in numerous journals including the ​Stanford Law Review, California Law Review, Vanderbilt Law Review, and Boston College Law Review​. He has appeared as a legal analyst on news programs for NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, KPCC, KCRW, and others. He has toured major universities in Europe to speak about social justice, hip hop culture, and the law at the request of the US Department of State and several European embassies.

Armour has been the recipient of the Los Angeles Community Action Network Freedom Now Award and the USC Academic Senate Distinguished Faculty Service Award. He holds a BA in sociology from Harvard University and a JD with honors from Boalt Hall Law School at the University of California, Berkeley.
