This special 20th Anniversary release reflects the history of the club from the very beginning to the current crop of residents. Here you’ll find artists who helped shape the sound of the club, grew up in the club, have been inspired by the club and have become part of the fabric family. FABRICLIVE represents the finest in dubstep, drum & bass, jungle, breaks and experimental beats. Houndstooth’s Special Request leads the charge in trademark style, opening the floor to Friday night luminaries Source Direct and J Majik. Shackleton and Pinch & Trim started playing the club during the birth of the UK dubstep scene and give a taste of the hugely disparate evolution of bass music. Daniel Avery and B.Traits show off their dancefloor versatility, while Rupture co-founder Mantra plants a flag for London’s vibrant musical future. Closing are two of the club's longest associates Groove Armada and original FABRICLIVE resident James Lavelle as UNKLE. fabric has been responsible for nurturing the underground London house and techno scene, inspiring and revolutionising the clubbing landscape by confidently proving that you don’t have to book commercial acts to be a success. The breadth of talent here displays the far reaching arms of the night - with an opening spread of melodic techno from Nina Kraviz, the shuddering electro of Steffi, and evolving experimental house of Margaret Dygas. New resident IMOGEN veers things in a darker direction towards Cassy’s pumping house and Marcel Dettmann’s classic late-night techno. Anastasia Kristensen drives ahead while Houndstooth’s Call Super takes things down a deeper notch with a track reminiscent of many a classic night in room 3, and Maya Jane Coles steps up with a playful slice of house. British dance music pioneer Sasha closes out on a euphoric high with layers of building vocal and melody. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.

    Discography of the Savoy/Regent and Associated Labels Savoy was formed in Newark New Jersey in 1942 by Herman Lubinsky and Fred Mendelsohn. Lubinsky acquired Mendelsohn’s interest in June 1949. Mendelsohn continued as producer for years afterward. Savoy recorded jazz, R&B, blues, gospel and classical. The head of sales was Hy Siegel. Production was by Ralph Bass, Ozzie Cadena, Leroy Kirkland, Lee Magid, Fred Mendelsohn, Teddy Reig and Gus Statiras. The subsidiary Regent was extablished in 1948. Regent recorded the same types of music that Savoy did but later in its operation it became Savoy’s budget label. The Gospel label was formed in Newark NJ in 1958 and recorded and released gospel music. The Sharp label was formed in Newark NJ in 1959 and released R&B and gospel music. The Dee Gee label was started in Detroit Michigan in 1951 by Dizzy Gillespie and Divid Usher. Dee Gee recorded jazz, R&B, and popular music. The label was acquired by Savoy records in the late 1950’s and moved to Newark NJ. The Signal label was formed in 1956 by Jules Colomby, Harold Goldberg and Don Schlitten in New York City. The label recorded jazz and was acquired by Savoy in the late 1950’s. There were no releases on Signal after being bought by Savoy. The Savoy and associated label discography was compiled using our record collections, Schwann Catalogs from 1949 to 1982, a Phono-Log from 1963. The London club scene attracts people into the area and provides employment opportunities for local people. It is very sad that two teenagers died of suspected drug overdoses recently but I don't believe you can hold a nightclub responsible for that. Over eighty thousand people attend Fabric over the course of one year and the majority of them do not take drugs. I hope the Met, Fabric and yourselves can come up with a sensible approach that protects clubbers safety and the future of the club. A variety of methods include: sewing, gluing, thermally bonding, etc. This joined fabric is required to have similar strength at the point of joining as the original fabric. This method of joining is commonly called seaming. Seams are the basic element of structure of any apparel, home furnishing product and industrial textiles. The ainm focus of this investigation is to study the joining parameters of fabric using a standard sewing machine. Two different seam designs will be investigated on three woven fabrics made from cotton, wool and silk.     What to listen to, if you’re too intelligent for Jay-Z Bittles‘ Magazine Those fallow months of June and July have, over time, become notorious for their lack of key musical releases. It seems that with the onset of the holiday and festival season, record companies are wary of the fact that most people are saving up for overpriced drinks in Ibiza or a muddy field. In light of this most artists seem content to hold their albums back until late August or September in the knowledge that by then we’ll all be sunburnt and craving new sounds. For the music lover though it can make finding new releases during this time a futile and exasperating experience. For example new albums by Jay-Z, Robin Thicke, and Editors are massive right now even though they have the musical merit of a disgruntled toad. Made up of twelve lush and mostly down-tempo tracks that heavily feature Maya’s own soft vocals, this is not the bass heavy garage influenced release that would be guaranteed to send her career into the stratosphere. What it is though is a collection of stunningly produced tracks that make for a superior listening experience.
