Site Description: The name 'Russian Beach,' Activities (also known locally as Lordship Beach) is Bird & Wildlife NO Supervised Swimming NO derived from its historic use by Russian Crabbing NO Unsupervised Swimming YES immigrants employed at Igor Sikorsky's Sikorsky Fishing YES SCUBA Diving NO Manufacturing Company, now part of United Technology Corporation's Sikorsky Aircraft. At Shellfishing NO Historic/Cultural Interest NO Russian Beach, only the area waterward of Trails NO Waterfowl Hunting NO mean high water is open to the public. Walk Walkways NO along the wet sand area of this beach via access Facilities provided by the beach at Point-No-Point. Access Pier NO Handicapped Access NO Russian Beach is believed to be one of the few natural beaches in Connecticut that is Boat Launch Ramp NO Nature Center/Museum NO expanding in a seaward direction resulting in a Car-top Boat Access NO Picnic Area NO series of dunes. Directions: From the East: Take I-95 South to exit 30. Follow the signs to Sikorsky Memorial Airport. Drive through the Great Meadows salt marsh, passing the airport on the left. At the next stop sign, go straight over Oak Bluff Avenue and then Lordship Boulevard turns into Stratford Road. Take a right onto the fourth street on the right which is Washington Road and follow to Beach Drive. You should see the Point-No-Point walkway and metered parking on Beach Dirve. Access to Russian Beach is at the east end of the Point-No-Point walkway. Additional Site Information: Town of Stratford From the West: Take I-95 North to exit 30. Follow the signs to Sikorsky Memorial Airport. Drive 1 Dorne Drive through the Great Meadows salt marsh, passing the airport on the left. At the next stop sign, go Stratford, CT 6615 straight over Oak Bluff Avenue and then Lordship Boulevard turns into Stratford Road. Take a right http://www.townofstratford.com/ onto the fourth street on the right which is Washington Road and follow to Beach Drive.You should see the Point-No-Point walkway and metered parking on Beach Dirve. Access to Russian Beach is at the east end of the Point-No-Point walkway.
