Your request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)

Thank you for your request for information under FOIA, regarding police officer numbers, police station closure and visits from ministers. This was received on 22 February 2016, and given the reference FOI00145

You have requested the following information: Request 1: How many of the police officers in your force area work on the operational frontline? How many were on the operational frontline on January 1st 2012?

Response 1: The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner does not hold this information. We suggest that you send your request to Hampshire Constabulary at [email protected] to obtain this information. Operational policing remains within the remit of the Chief Constable.

Request 2: How many police stations have closed in your area since you took office?

Response 2: In total, three police stations have been closed in Hampshire and Isle of Wight since the Police and Crime Commissioner has taken office. The stations are at Hartney Whitney, Twyford and Weyhill. (These closures took place before the Police and Crime Commissioner had developed his Estate Change Programme. We do not hold the information as to where policing services were provided.) At other places, there has been a relocation of the police estate to other sites within the same area.

Request 3: Could you provide details of how often Home Office ministers have made an official visit to you in your capacity as Police and Crime Commissioner? Specifically, I would like to know the date of the visit, who the minister was, and what was the official purpose of that visit.

Response 3: The following visits have been made by Home Office ministers to the Police and Crime Commissioner:

6th January 2015 Rt.Hon. , Minister for Policing & Minister of State for Justice. To view co-located services at Winnall Fire/Police premises, Winchester.

18th January 2016 Rt. Hon. , . To view the Forensic Innovation Centre, University of Portsmouth.

27th January 2016 Rt. Hon Mike Penning, Minister for Policing, Fire & Criminal Justice & Victims. To view the Joint Fire and Police Strategic Headquarters, Eastleigh.
