    DIVISION I WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS RECORDS BOOK 2015 Championship 2 History 5 All-Time Results 17 2015 CHAMPIONSHIP HIGHLIGHTS Arkansas wins first national championship: The top-ranked University of Arkansas women’s track and field team made history Saturday night at the Randal Tyson Track Center with the program’s first national championship. The victory is also the first at the Division I level for head coach Lance Harter and the first for any women’s program at Arkansas. The Razorbacks won three national event titles during the weekend to score a program-best 63 points atop the team standings. Prior to Saturday’s result, the program had a previous high finish of third place at the 2000 national meet in Fayetteville. The Razorbacks entered the meet with a top-five finish in three of the previous four years before ascending to the top of the team podium. With 63 points, the Razorbacks posted the third-highest team total in meet history. Arkansas scored 50 of its points Saturday. Doubling back from Friday’s anchor of the victorious distance-medley relay, Scott claimed her first NCAA individual title with a first-place run at 3,000 meters. The Razorback senior crossed the finish line to a standing ovation from the home crowd in a time of 8:55.19, more than three seconds ahead of the runner-up. Scott is the second runner in program history to win an indoor title at 3,000 meters, joining Sarah Schwald who won in 1995. Morris tied the NCAA indoor meet record in her victory in the pole vault, posting a final clearance of 4.60m/15-1.

McConnell is the first Gatorade Colorado Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year to be chosen from Peak to Peak Charter School. The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the racecourse, distinguishes McConnell as Colorado’s best high school girls cross country runner. Now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year award to be announced in February, McConnell joins an elite alumni association of past state award-winners in 12 sports, including Lukas Verzbicas (2010-11, 2009-10 Carl Sandburg High School, Orland Park, Ill.), Megan Goethals (2009-10, Rochester High School, Rochester Hills, Mich.), Jordan Hasay (2008-09, Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School, San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and Chris Derrick (2007-08, Neuqua Valley High School, Naperville, Ill.). The 5-foot-9 senior raced to fifth place at the Nike Cross Nationals Southwest Regional championships this past season with a time of 17:15.8. McConnell took 31st nationally at the NXN Final and finished third at the Class 3A state meet in 18:43.3.

EUGENE, Ore. – Th e Ducks break fall camp with the Washington Invitational on Saturday at Jeff erson Park Golf Course in Seattle, Wash. Th e women’s race is at 11 a.m., while the men go at 11:45 a.m. Both the men’s and women’s races will be early-season contests between the Ducks, Huskies and other rivals. Th e Duck women are fourth nationally, while the Huskies check in at No. 12. On the men’s side Oregon is No. 3 with Washington at No. 21. Th e men’s race also has No. 24 Washington State and No. 29 Colorado State, while Harvard (also receiving votes) is in the women’s fi eld. Th e Washington Invitational will mark the 2016 debut of three-time defending NCAA champion Edward Cheserek, who won this event for Oregon last season (23:15.4).
