LEGENDS IN THE MLB COMMUNITY 2018 A Office of the Commissioner MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL ROBERT D. MANFRED, JR. Commissioner of Baseball Dear Friends and Colleagues: Baseball is fortunate to occupy a special place in our culture, which presents invaluable opportunities to all of us. Major League Baseball’s 2018 Community Affairs Report demonstrates the breadth of our game’s efforts to make a difference for our fans and communities. The 30 Major League Clubs work tirelessly to entertain and to build teams worthy of fan support. Yet their missions go much deeper. Each Club aims to be a model corporate citizen that gives back to its community. Additionally, Major League Baseball is honored to support the important work of core partners such as Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the Jackie Robinson Foundation and Stand Up To Cancer. We are proud to use our platform to lift spirits, to create legacies and to show young people that the magic of our great game is not limited to the field of play. As you will see in the pages that follow, MLB and its Clubs will always strive to make the most of the exceptional moments that we collectively share. Sincerely, Robert D. South Amboy-Sayreville Times October 28, 2017 1 McKeon Excellent Run With Marlins By Tom Burkard The Miami Marlins Major League Baseball Club was recently sold to an investment group led by New York Yankee legend/future Hall-of-Famer Derek Jeter and Bruce Sherman for a reported $1.2 billion. Jack McKeon, who had been with the Marlins for 15 years, since 2003, when he guided them to the World Series Championship over the New York Yankees, was advised that he would no longer retain his executive consultant Jack McKeon position, which he held since officially retiring in 2011 from his manager post. Marlins President David Samson delivered the message to McKeon, who said, “This is new ownership, and they have the right to do those things. They want to bring their own people in. UPDATE On January 4, 2005, team owner Arte Moreno announced that the team would change its name to "The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim." Moreno believes that the name change will allow the team to tap into a larger marketing area in the greater Los Angeles community. Commissioner Bug Selig has approved the name change, but there are pending lawsuits by the city to enjoin the team, requiring the name to remain "The Anaheim Angels." The city sued arguing that the lease precludes the change, while the team argues that by leaving "Anaheim" in the name, the change satisfies the terms of the lease. NAMING RIGHTS In early 2004 Edison International exercised their option to terminate their 20-year, $50 million naming rights agreement with the Anaheim Angels.

Through my research I have found that both entities follow a very similar timeline with highs and lows coming around the same time in the same province; although, I have not found any direct linkage between the two. My analysis begins around 1837 and continues through present day, and by analyzing the histories of each movement demonstrates clearly that both movements followed a unique and similar timeline.

About Us Jeremy Flug founded Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids in 2008. After attending a Colorado Rockies Fantasy Camp for adults several years before, he decided to provide the same opportunity for young baseball fans with special needs. With the cooperation of Major League Baseball, and several participating teams, more than 2,000 kids and their families have been impacted in a very positive way. Today, Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids is proud to offer a wide array of baseball activities to special needs youth ranging from six to 17 years old. Campers will gain the confidence to get out there and take a crack at the ball through practicing hitting, fielding, catching fly balls, and more during personal instruction with the pros. Let’s play ball! The Day Over the course of the day, campers will get the opportunity to learn the essential baseball skills from their favorite MLB players and coaches. They’ll also improve their hitting, fielding, throwing and catching skills through a series of training stations. We select local playing fields for our camps that are wheelchair accessible and safe for all our special needs campers. When campers arrive for their special day, they will instantly be made a part of the team. We provide each participant with their own personalized team jersey.
