  • Twisted Trails of the Wold West by Matthew Baugh © 2006
Twisted Trails of the Wold West By Matthew Baugh © 2006 The Old West was an interesting place, and even more so in the Wold- Newton Universe. Until fairly recently only a few of the heroes and villains who inhabited the early western United States had been confirmed through crossover stories as existing in the WNU. Several comic book miniseries have done a lot to change this, and though there are some problems fitting each into the tapestry of the WNU, it has been worth the effort. Marvel Comics’ miniseries, Rawhide Kid: Slap Leather was a humorous storyline, parodying the Kid’s established image and lampooning westerns in general. It is best known for ‘outing’ the Kid as a homosexual. While that assertion remains an open issue with fans, it isn’t what causes the problems with incorporating the story into the WNU. What is of more concern are the blatant anachronisms and impossibilities the story offers. We can accept it, but only with the caveat that some of the details have been distorted for comic effect. When the Rawhide Kid is established as a character in the Wold-Newton Universe he provides links to a number of other western characters, both from the Marvel Universe and from classic western novels and movies. It draws in the Marvel Comics series’ Blaze of Glory, Apache Skies, and Sunset Riders as wall as DC Comics’ The Kents. As with most Marvel and DC characters there is the problem with bringing in the mammoth superhero continuities of the Marvel and DC universes, though this is not insurmountable.

  • Woundsissue1.Pdf Download
Shit The Editor Says Welcome to the first “issue” of Wounds of the Earth. I started this thing on almost the very same date 6 years ago in 2006. That seems like such an impossibly long time ago now. When Wounds began, it was just a stu- pid website I had thrown together to showcase some local acts that I was friends with at the time, and to give them a platform to talk about the ideas behind their music. I had no master plan for it, I just knew I wanted to do something to help the music that I loved. After going through several phases, numerous contributors, and losing our .com website & a ton of old information, I’m still here trying to do what I can to promote good, pro- gressive music. I decided to try out the “actual magazine” format aftering reading one of my girlfriend’s old Gothic Beauty mags, ironically enough. Something about looking through the pages and seeing all the ads for in- dustrial labels when they were releasing good music, combined with the art and fashion stuff made me yearn for more material like that which brought together all the positive components of the culture and promoted it as one. It seems that everything in society is stuck in this “charge more, provide less” mindset - every business and service expects more from its clients while doing its best to provide whatever in an increasingly cheaper, more basic form. Fuck that. I knew that is what I was doing with the blog, no matter how I tried to rationalize it - giving less because it was easy, cheap, convenient.

Thesis Abstract The Production of Luck: Learning to Act, in the Discipline of Theatre Anthropology. Theatre Anthropology is a discipline with a unique place in the history of theatre. It is neither solely practical nor theoretical, but enacts and theorises the relationship between action and thought, reflecting how transformations in one area inform the development of the other. This field is the work of Eugenio Barba, actors of Odin Teatret, scholars and performers of the International School of Theatre Anthropology.

' ' , . , > > > . , 1 > I J J >> I. CAMBRIDGE AT THE UNIVERSITY PRESS 1921 1 Preface few of the Fornaldar Sogur Northrlanda VERYhave hitherto been translated into English. The Volsungasaga is of course well known, but with this * exception the Stories of Icelanders,' and the 'Stories of the Kings of Norway' are probably the only sagas familiar to the majority of English readers. Of the four sagas contained in this volume only one the Thdttr of Sorli has appeared in English before, though the poetry which they contain has frequently been translated, from the time of Hickes's Thesaurus (1705). So far as I am' aware "no version of any of the Faroese ballads has appeared in English. Out of the great number which were collected during the i8th and rothS centuries L'-have chosen a few which deal with the same stories as the sagas translated here; and for purposes of comparison I have added a short extract from one of the Icelandic Rimur, as well as a Danish ballad and part of the Shetland Hildina. In accordance with general custom in works of this kind I have discarded the use of accents, un- familiar symbols, etc., except in a few Norse words which can hardly be anglicised.
