    How to build a 36 spoke bicycle wheel. You’ll need: Hub & rim (for 36 spokes) 36 spokes & nipples. Spoke wrench & small flat screwdriver) How it’s done: 1.1) Insert spokes into every other hole on one side of the hub - spokes turning towards hub. 1.2) Locate the valve hole (the only hole larger than the others). Insert a random spoke into the hole right next to the valvehole, on the right side and screw on a nipple - be Figure 1.2 sure to only screw on a few turns, using your fingers or a small screwdriver Insert the next spoke into the forth hole, from the one you’ve just used.     A note on Spoke Count in Aerodynamic Bicycle Wheels Since the advent of the modern deep section aerodynamic bicycle rim, there have been numerous and often divergent theories about what constitutes an aerodynamic spoke configuration. Theories even arose in the mid 1980’s thinking that higher spoke count wheels would force the air to move around the entire spoked area of the wheel, causing the wheel to behave similar to a disc. This particular theory was quickly thrown out as field studies showed riders on 48 spoke wheels working hard to keep up with those on 28 spoke wheels, but many disagreements and discrepancies still remain. By the late 1990’s, the big debate seemed to relate to how few spokes one could feasibly use, and whether the spokes were best shaped round, oval, or flattened. Another raging debate was occurring between rim and wheel manufacturers as to whether hidden or exposed spoke nipples were more aerodynamic, as well as possibly stronger. The information represented below is the culmination of physical study on bicycle rims and wheels undertaken over the last 4 years specifically, and the wind tunnel information relates to a 50 hour session occurring in January 2004 at Texas A&M University LSWT, during which these issues and others were specifically tested. Spoke Count The easiest way to measure the benefits of increased or decreased spoke count is to simply build prototypes and test them for certain feasibility criteria. The primary issues to most racing athletes are: wheel stiffness and ride qualities, wheel aerodynamics, and wheel strength/durability.

Words that are new are underlined, a strike-through indicates wording that has been removed. 10.10 SIDECARS SIDECAR ROADRACING MISSION STATEMENT: To preserve the rich and full history of the golden era of Sidecar roadracing by maintaining a venue to showcase the types of roadracing Sidecar outfits that made the sport an integral part of the historic Grand Prix experience. 10.10.a SIDECAR OUTFITS: Sidecar outfits shall comply with AHRMA definitions and requirements listed in sections 2. DEFINITIONS, 9.3 TECHNICAL INSPECTION, 9.4 LOCKWIRE REQUIREMENTS, 9.5 NUMBERS AND NUMBER PLATES, 9.7 MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR VINTAGE CLASSES and all other applicable AHRMA rules except as detailed below. 10.10.b DRIVER AND PASSENGER: Drivers of Sidecar outfits shall meet all current AHRMA requirements listed in section 3.4 RIDER ELIGIBILITY and 9.1 RIDER ELIGIBILITY.
