Steve Potvin will be back again this year to coach our talented Bantam U14-2002 AAA team.. Steve is now being recognized as one of the best skills coaches in the state and is responsible for the 02’s and 03’s. Coach Potvin does double-duty also head coaching the slick 2003 AAA team!

Potvin is a veteran of 478 professional (AHL) and top European league games. The gritty forward played 10 seasons in Europe, appearing in 350 games and accumulating 133 goals and 184 assists. .Prior to skating overseas, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward split time over five seasons between the AHL and ECHL. The 35-year-old averaged a -per-game during his two seasons with the pro ECHL’ s Raleigh Icecaps, netting 112 points (42g/70a) in 111 contests. Before turning pro, Potvin played four seasons of junior hockey in the legendary Ontario Hockey League.

The Jr. Coyotes are pleased to have Coach return to these two AAA teams next year. We also want to thank him for his overall support of the Jr. Coyotes program.

Coach Nash continues for another season alongside Steve Potvin. “Nasher” has be a big part of the hockey world in our state for many years. He landed in AZ by way of the NHL and the Phoenix Coyotes. Soon after retirement Tyson moved upstairs to land a role on Fox Sports as the in-host broadcaster for Coyotes games. The Jr. Coyotes are lucky to have Nash involved with the 03’s again when his time permits.

Nash played seven seasons in the NHL with St. Louis and Phoenix, recording 27-37-64 and 673 minutes (PIM) in 374 games. Nash was originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the 10th round (247th overall) of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut on April 3, 1999 with the St. Louis Blues. Nash played for the Coyotes during the 2003-04 and 2005-06 seasons and was the recipient of the team’s Man of the Year Award in 2004 for his involvement in the Phoenix community.

A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Nash enjoyed a standout junior hockey career with the Blazers of the (WHL) where he was a teammate of Coyotes Shane Doan. Nash and Doan helped lead Kamloops to back-to-back Championships in 1994 and 1995. Nash and his wife, Kathy, reside in Scottsdale with their daughters, Madison and Georgia, and their son, Ty.(03)
