  • Altona Lacrosse Club Recommended Equipment 2020
ALTONA LACROSSE CLUB RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT 2020 Introduction: The following equipment is a non-exhaustive list of equipment you may wish to consider for purchase. In the case of goalie protective equipment, the chest pads and shoulder pads are considered the safest on the market. The assessments of safety are from the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOCSEA) in the USA. Anyone considering goalie gear should refer to this list. If the goalie padding does not specify it meets NCOSEA standards then do not buy it. With helmets, nearly all modern lacrosse helmets are excellent for our game. The STX may be slightly safer where the Cascades may offer better vision and comfort so it comes down to personal choice. With shoulder pads, the ones recommended have extra padding at the heart, many players however do not wear shoulder pads at all so it is personal choice. The choice of sticks is varied. However, as a guide, if you are a faceoff look for flexible sticks specifically designed for face off. If you are a defender you may go for a wider head stick with slightly less flexibility. An attack player may go for a smaller head which holds the ball well. Midfielders will likely prefer a stick that holds the ball well but is also good for defense. Gloves are a matter of choice but you may want to look at the thumb protection as a lot of players get hit there, or you may be concerned with wrist protection. Goalies have extra padding in the thumb.

  • An in Vitro Evaluation of Electric Toothbrushes
Preventive Dentistry An in vitro evaluation of electric toothbrushes B. S. Khambay*/A. D. Walmsley^* Fotir cotnmercially avaiiable electric toothbrushes (Sonieare, Braun Electric Toothbrush, Interplak, and Blend-a-Dent) »ere assessed both for their operating characteristics and their ability to retnove a 'food debris " medium. The Sonieare and Blend-a-Dent have a lateral vibrator)' action, while the Interplak and Braun produce a rotary movement of the brush head. The vibratory action of the Sonieare was susceptible to loading. All devices produced both stable-pulsating cavitation and acoustic tnicrostreaming that was demonstrated in vitro using a suspension of particles in water Their effectiveness in removing a food debris medium was assessed with and without water Three of the brushes (Sonieare, Braun, and Blend-a- Dent) were simitar in their abllit}- to remove the placjue, and all were superior to the Interplak: its streaming forces removed no food debris. The results indicated that the Blend-a-Dent was the most effective brush design in vitro, although the differences between Blend-a-Dent and Sonieare were not statistically significant. (Quintessence Int 1995:26:841-848.) Introduction The early designs of electric toothbrushes generated a transverse {side-to-side) movement, and this motion Electric toothbrushes have become established as an is stih prominent in those presently avaiiable. Other effective alternative to manual methods of tooth- variations include rotation of small individual tufts and brushing. The mode of action of these brushes is a rotary longitudinal movement of the brush head. designed to simulate manual methods and as such is Reports on the effectiveness of a toothbrush with a attractive to the population as an easy and simple rotational movement suggest that it may be superior in method of brushing teeth.

Fishing Methods and Gears in Panay Island, Philippines 著者 KAWAMURA Gunzo, BAGARINAO Teodora journal or 鹿児島大学水産学部紀要=Memoirs of Faculty of publication title Fisheries Kagoshima University volume 29 page range 81-121 別言語のタイトル フィリピン, パナイ島の漁具漁法 URL http://hdl.handle.net/10232/13182 Mem. Fac. Fish., Kagoshima Univ. Vol.29 pp. 81-121 (1980) Fishing Methods and Gears in Panay Island, Philippines*1 Gunzo Kawamura*2 and Teodora Bagarinao*3 Abstract The authors surveyed the fishing methods and gears in Panay and smaller neighboring islands in the Philippines in September-December 1979 and in March-May 1980. This paper is a report on the fishing methods and gears used in these islands, with special focus on the traditional and primitive ones. The term "fishing" is commonly used to mean the capture of many aquatic animals — fishes, crustaceans, mollusks, coelenterates, echinoderms, sponges, and even birds and mammals. Moreover, the harvesting of algae underwater or from the intertidal zone is often an important job for the fishermen. Fishing method is the manner by which the aquatic organisms are captured or collected; fishing gear is the implement developed for the purpose. Oftentimes, the gear alone is not sufficient and auxiliary instruments have to be used to realize a method. A fishing method can be applied by means of various gears, just as a fishing gear can sometimes be used in the appli cation of several methods. Commonly, only commercial fishing is covered in fisheries reports. Although traditional and primitive fishing is done on a small scale, it is still very important from the viewpoint of supply of animal protein.
