Jessica Has Huge Heart!

This year, as Jessica Lillis was turn- ing 8 years old, she decided her birth- day shouldn't only be special for her, it should be special for others, as well. So, when sending out her invitations, Jessica, of Sea Cliff Elementary School, asked her friends to only bring canned goods to her party- no presents! As a result, she collected 128 pounds of food! Jessica brought the food to the Mary Brennan Inn in Hempstead. Gene Vincent of the INN, helped weigh the food and invited Jessica to come back on Thanksgiving to help serve the food to families in need. Jessica has a big heart! She is hoping to bring her Girl Scout Troop to the INN to share the experience of giving. Good job, Jessica!! Week of November 14, 2013 Gold Coast Gazette Page 5 Concert Festival Orchestra

Page 16 Gold Coast Gazette Week of November 14, 2013 Glen Head Elementary Unites Against Bullying “Make It Orange and Make It End” North Shore Schools, Glen Head, NY October 31, 2013 - On October 31st, students, faculty, and staff at Glen Head Elementary wore orange to unite as a school against bullying. Enrichment Teacher Janet Goldberg said, “Unity Day is when we unite against bullying, hatred, harassment, and all forms of dis- crimination and disrespect.” She added, “Members of the Dignity for All Club asked everyone at Glen Head School to show their support by wearing orange.” To coincide with National Bully- ing Prevention Month in October, Glen Head students joined the movement to ‘Make it Orange and Make it End’ and unite against bullying. This cohesive communication continues to send a mes- sage of support to students all over the nation who have experienced bullying. The Dignity for All Student Act (DASA) prohibits discrimination and/ or harassment of students on school property and at school functions by stu- dents and/or employees. All members of the Glen Head School community are committed to providing an educational environment that promotes respect, dig- nity, and equality. For more information regarding the Dignity for All Student Act, please visit the North Shore Schools website at www.northshoreschools.org under the Glen Head School Handbook 2013-14 in the Glen Head Policies and Forms section.
