Everybody gathered in the lobby in Hotel Pella, We were all happy to meet each other, both old and new participants.

Our first evening together with the teachers from "Alexandreio" 2nd Primary School of Giannitsa.

We got a fantastic welcome at school with music and songs from all the pupils.

The children had made this welcome gift to all of us.

All participants gathered in Voula’s classroom before our lesson together with Evagelina about how to work with E-Twinning.

During the coordinator´s meeting we discussed how to organize the different topics and how to cooperate between the countries and pupils. We decided that teachers joining the project are going to Skype with each other. We should decide a specific day and time. Poland and Hungary start before summer break.

We will invite the pupils to Twinspace. We decided to start in September when school has started again after summer break. It is ok to choose one class/country.

Lucia informed about the new security rules for Europe, GDPR. We all should have a document from the parents that approves photos of their children, otherwise no photos where you can recognise the children.

There were a lot of suggestions of how the students can share what we are working with in mathematic and how to show our different cultures to each other. Here are some of the ideas;

• a math dictionary • games - presented by a video of how to play them • math tasks • poems • tell each other about the nature where we live; trees, animals… • at Christmas time create a video with Slient night in the six countries languages • jokes

The final step will be evaluation of the project in which we involve the students . What did you like/not like? Problems? Could we have done things differntly?

During our project meeting the short-term joint staff visited two math lessons.

We also got the honour to meet the mayor of Giannitsa in the Town Hall before we had lunch.

In the evening we were introduced to the Greek cuisine with live Greek music. A fantastic nice evening where some of us also learned to dance Zorba.

We all visited three math lessons during the morning. The first lesson was in year 6 where the students worked with symmetry practically in different ways.

The second math lesson was in year 2 where Stella had prepared a work with Euro. The lesson started with the children introducing themselves in English and sang Old McDonald.The children compared size, colours and values of the Euro. After some practice they had a competition ”Who finds the prize first”? Stella showed prizes of different fruits and vegetables, then the teams should cooperate and try to find the answer as quickly as possible. All the children participated with joy and told us; ”We are happy because we play!” Noone is the winner!

The last lesson we visited was in year 6 where the class combined English with math and history. Their teacher, Evagelia, had made a Jeopardy of historical persons like Shakespear,

Aristoteles, Aristofanes and El Greco which she combined with earlier lessons with simple past tense. The class was divided in teams. Behind each number on the board there was a question about the historical persons and the teams got the number they choosed as prize..

Before lunch we visited a traditional tradition museum and learned about Giannitsa and its history.

We also visited the Macedonian royal tombs in Verginain the afternoon. It was so interesting and fascinating to see the relics of the ancient Greece. Unfortunately we could not take photos inside the tombs, but I think we all remember the guided tour.

The last day at Alexandreio 2nd Primary School. The morning started with the students making a fantastic performance with traditional Greek dances and showing Math in Art by drama. It was a performance with pride and joy.

After the performance we visited the nursery school. We did not take any pictures from the activiites but here is one photo on the teacher who worked there and who showed us around.

In the afternoon we spent our day in Edessa and visited the beautiful waterfalls there. We learned that the falls provide the area of Macedonia with its water. Before our trip back to Giannitsa we made a stop in Loutraki where we could enjoy the thermal springs.

We had a wonderful evening with a lot of Greek food. Talking about differences between our countries, changing experiences, dancing and laughing.

Five wonderful days together with the Erasmus team are over and we finished our days by visiting the Archaeological Museum of Pella. Unfortunately the Swedish team had to leave earlier but the rest enjoyed their time together before a goodbye to Gianitssa, Voula and the fantastic staff at school in Thessaloniki.

Time goes fast and the next meeting will be in Latvia in October 2 - 6.
