She also signed a 4 million dollar songwriting contract. It has been an amazing 1___________ from nowhere for the sixteen year old New Zealand singer/songwriter. Her deep voice, her contemporary 2 ___________ style and her original, 3_______________ lyrics have attracted fans all over the world. Lorde’s real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor. Like Justin Bieber she got her start in the music industry by winning a talent show and was quickly signed up by Universal Music Group. Her style can best be described as slow contemporary synthpop or electropop. “Royals” is 4 _______________ to the other songs on her first CD “Pure Heroine”. “Royals” is about surviving the difficulties of lower middle class life. Lorde sings, “I’m not proud of my address, in a torn up town, no postcode envy”. The royals – kings, queens, movie or music celebrities and the other super-rich - have all the power and wealth. The song is about Lorde seeing on TV or hearing about in songs everyday, “…….Maybach, diamonds on your timepiece, jet planes, islands……”, the things she thinks she can never have.
