BRIEFLY Silver celebration for IHC Planting day Local people are invited to attend a planting day at the Eileen Montefiore Reserve on Calf Scheme fundraiser Wednesday (May 27). The Lower Mangapiko Stream Care group is co- ordinating the event on the corner of Factory Road and Racecourse Road from 10.30am. Around 800 native trees donated by the Honda Tree Fund will be planted along the banks of the Mangapiko Stream. For enquiries phone Betsy Bryant (ph 871 8989) or see full details in the feature in Tuesday’s Te Awamutu Courier. Fishing focus Editor of Fishing News, Grant Dixon, will be guest speaker at Pirongia Fishing Club’s meeting on Wednesday, June 3. Mr Dixon was born and bred in Te Awamutu and has a wealth of fishing experience in some exotic locations around New Zealand and other far flung places. He recently returned from a fishing expedition to Borneo and no doubt has some interesting stories to tell about this. The meeting takes place at 7.30pm at Pirongia School Hall — all welcome (light supper provided).
