2000 Major Bantam AA The Cincinnati Swords Bantam AA team will provide the premier environment for on-ice player development and off-ice advancement in the region at the 2000 birth year. This will be done by exposing players to a top-notch coaching staff, playing a challenging schedule, and promoting a fun, competitive, winning atmosphere. Our expectations are to compete with elite AA teams and selected AAA teams as we build toward the Ohio State AA Championships in our attempt to qualify for Nationals. Coaching Staff Head Coach Barret Ehgoetz - 6 years of pro hockey experience (Cincinnati Cyclones, Utah Grizzlies, Rochester Americans) - 2008 and 2010 Kelly Cup Champion with the Cincinnati Cyclones, 4 year captain - Named to the ECHL All-Decade Team and named ECHL Sportsman of the Year (2010) - Played 4 years at Niagara University NCAA Division 1, 3 year captain - Niagara’s all-time leading scorer and inducted to the Niagara Sports Hall of Fame - 2013-14 Swords Bantam 2000 Head Coach (Cincinnati Regional Silver Stick Champs, Little Caesar’s Adams Division Playoff Champs) Assistant Coaches Andrew Heldt - Played 4 years Club Hockey at Miami, 3 year captain, 2nd Team All-American - Played one season of junior hockey for Toledo Cherokee - 3 yrs varisty hockey at St. John’s Jesuit, Toledo, team captain, won State Championship - 2013-14 Swords Bantam 2000 Asst Coach Chad Carnahan - Played 3 years Club Hockey at Miami - Assistant coach of Miami Club hockey team for one season - 3 yrs of junior hockey with Queen City, 2 year captain and league all-star Schedule 50+ Game Schedule will include: Tournaments - Chicago Bauer Invitational (Nov 7-9) - Dayton Regional Silver Stick (Dec 12-14) - Port Huron International Silver Stick (Jan 22-25) or other Tournament TBD - Detroit Rumble in the Rink (Sep 26-28) or Buffalo Harborcenter Tourney (Feb 6-8) - Ohio State Championships Game Schedule - Preferred Option - remainder of games will be made up of home and homes, neutral site, and round robin/showcase weekends against top AA and appropriately selected AAA teams - Secondary Option - remainder of games will be made up of Little Caesar’s Yzerman Division regular season games; this will be explored if we are unable to build a highly competitive independent schedule - we expect a total of 8-9 overnight weekends Practices - two practices per week from late August/early September thru early March - extra practices may be added during key times of the season - we have budgeted for 84 hours of practice time (56 X 1.5 hrs) - once the ice schedule is set we’ll explore shared ice time opportunities to extend practices times at no additional cost Financial Commitment Team Fee is $2,375.00 Team Fee includes: - all practice ice time - 84 hours - all game ice time and officials for a 50 game season - tournament entry fees (including State Championship) - Cincinnati Swords player fee - coaches travel expenses - miscellaneous team fees and supplies Team Fee DOES NOT include: - travel expenses - equipment fees, if needed - additional fees if the team qualifies for Nationals Team Expectations As members of the Cincinnati Swords Major Bantam 2000 team our players will conduct themselves with the highest level of integrity and respect both on and off the ice. As a coaching staff we set very high expectations for our team and will challenge our players to meet these attainable goals.
