The ICFAI University, Dehradun, founded in the year 2003, has, over the years, developed the capacity and capability to strive to scale new heights in the area of higher education. It has persistently crafted right systems, staff, processes and technology to evolve into one of the finest hubs of learning. With the guidance and encouragement of the Board of Governors, the target oriented approach of the present Vice Chancellor and of the entire team under his leadership has, in recent months helped catapult the University to a position of 44th among the Top 50 Universities globally in Industry Initiatives in the World University with Real Impact Rankings (WURI) 2020, besides getting the NAAC accreditation last year. The University is sensitive not only to the challenges posed by the present pandemic but also to the changes in the field of technology. It has been swift to respond to these challenges and has adopted latest technology to create a customized online platform for imparting education to its students. The University keenly focuses on updating and innovating its course curriculum to keep it relevant and contemporary for its high level professional, postgraduate and undergraduate programs. It is among the few pioneering Universities that were quick to earn the global QS IGauge E Lead Certification for E-Learning Excellence and Digitization. The 25 acres campus of the University, nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas and the Shivaliks, is well equipped with modern labs, smart classrooms, well stocked library and utilizes latest technology to impart education, training and entrepreneurship development skills to its students. The University aims to provide relevant applied learning experiences to its students through research, internships and community outreach projects. Besides the curricular activities, the student-led clubs, social, cultural and sports activities make the campus vibrant and prepare the students to be mentally and physically fit, necessary in high demanding job profiles. The University, today in its eighteenth year, is diligently working in the pursuit of excellence in its academic offerings, through cooperation and commitment of all our stake holders and will continue in its endeavor to groom its students into ethically grounded professional who are capable of managing change and transformation in a globally competitive environment. Dr. Ra a handran Chancellor 4 Annual Report - Dehradun 2019-20 Message from the Vice Chancellor (In-Charge) Greetings! It is my privilege to present the 17th Annual Report 2019-20 of the University. The report comprehensively covers activities conducted by the four Schools of the University from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020. The last two decades have witnessed a remarkable growth in Higher Education in India and across the globe. There has been a major thrust towards interdisciplinary studies and interactive learning has opened up several horizons for the learner. Since its inception in 2003, the University has continuously strived to provide quality education to its students. The campus of the University is situated in a serene environment with latest infrastructure facilities conducive to Curricular and Co-Scholastic activities. The whole campus is Information & Communication Tech (ICT) enabled which helps the students and faculty to access E-Teaching and E-Learning along with the traditional teaching pedagogy. The University also boasts of latest laboratories, virtual labs which help the faculty to impart practical hands on training to the students. The University marches ahead to achieve its mission through a goal of blending contemporary knowledge with skills and values required to produce good citizens for our Country. The University has highly qualified Faculty in their respective fields of expertise. A large number of National and International Conferences / Seminars/ Workshops are organized by the University on a regular basis. Such events provide a variety of experiences to the students and inculcate in them skills of leadership and team spirit besides providing them exposure to the changing world which helps the students in developing their holistic personality. In terms of credentials, the University has a long history of achievements and has been awarded with several honours on National and State levels for its contribution in the field of Higher Education. Recently the University was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The University has entered into collaborations with many prominent industry and business houses for internships with them, which have helped the students acquire skills relevant to industry requirements. Structured training programs on Soft Skills and preparatory training for competitive exams are offered in the University to help students become more employable. Almost 100 percent placements in the Schools of the University speak the effectiveness of these programs. We would like to extend our sincerest thanks and gratitude to Chancellor, Dr. M Ramachandran, IAS (Retd.) for his continuous guidance and his visionary leadership that has always motivated us to tread the path of continuous progress and development of the University. We are thankful to members of Board of Management, Academic Council, Research Committee and Board of Studies for their significant and valuable inputs in all aspect of University Academics and Administration. Introduction The University was established under the provision of the ICFAI University Act, 2003 (Act No. 16 of 2003), vide notification No. 908/ Higher Education/2003-3(16)/2003 dated 23.09.2003 of the Government of Uttarakhand. The University is sponsored by the ICFAI Society, a not-for-profit educational society established in 1984. The University is recognized by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956. The University emphasizes on providing high quality and industry relevant education in the areas of Management, Science and Technology, Law and Education. The University is a Member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), London; Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi and also a member of Asian Law Institute, Singapore. 2.
