He also ranked second on the team with 26 points (9g, 17a) in 25 playoff games in 2005-06 to help the franchise capture its first Stanley Cup.

VINNY WAS A FRIEND OF MINE Vincent Trocheck tallied two power-play points (1g, 1a) vs. FLA (4/6) for his eighth multi-point game of the season. He has now registered an assist/point in five consecutive games (3/30-4/6: 2g, 5a) after missing eight games (3/11-3/27) due to an upper-body injury. Dating back to 2/27, Trocheck has now posted a point in each of his last 11 games played (2/27-4/6: 6g, 9a), and he now ranks tied with Sebastian Aho for the team lead in goals (15) and tied with Dougie Hamilton (5-26—31) for second on the team in points (15-16—31) despite playing just 29 games. His team-high seven power-play goals are also tied for ninth in the NHL. Trocheck has now scored a goal in each of his first five games against his former team since being acquired on 2/24/20. He is the only Whalers/Hurricanes player to score in his first four or more games against his former team after being traded since the NHL began tracking trades in 1991-92.

BETTER CALL STAAL Jordan Staal scored two goals vs. FLA (4/6) for his team-leading third multi-goal game and his 10th multi-point game of 2020-21. His second goal marked his 317th point with the Hurricanes (117g, 200a), moving him ahead of Justin Williams (2004-09, 2017-20: 128-188—316) for eighth in team history (since relocation).

SUPER BASS Sebastian Aho earned three assists vs. FLA (4/6) for his third multi-assist game and his team-high 13th multi-point game of the season. He also won 69.2% of his faceoffs (9-for-13), marking his third-highest faceoff percentage in any game this season. Three of his six highest faceoff percentages in 2020-21 have now come against the Panthers (also 3/7, 3/1). Aho ranked second on the team in points in March (9-7—16) behind only Martin Necas (7-10—17), but he had been held scoreless in his last four games (3/30-4/4). He has now registered 299 points (136g, 163a) in 348 career NHL/Hurricanes games.

DOUG DYNASTY Dougie Hamilton scored his first power-play goal of the season vs. FLA (4/6). He has tallied 20 points in his last 19 games (2/27-4/6: 4g, 16a). His 15 power-play points (1g, 14a) are tied with Vincent Trocheck (7g, 8a) for the team lead, and he is now tied with Tyson Barrie (EDM: 2g, 13a), John Klingberg (DAL: 2g, 14a) and Keith Yandle (FLA: 1g, 14a) for the fourth-most power-play points among NHL defensemen. His 31 points (5g, 26a) this season rank fifth among that group.

MAKING THEM PAY The Hurricanes scored twice on the power-play vs. FLA (4/6) after they had been held scoreless on the man advantage in their previous four games (3/30-4/4: 0-for-4). Carolina is now 34-for-114 on the power play this season, leading the NHL in power-play conversion rate (29.8%) and ranking tied for second in power-play goals behind only COL (35). The Hurricanes are 18-3-2 when scoring at least one power-play goal this season and 9-0-0 when scoring at least two.

HIT PARADE Vincent Trocheck registered a career-high eight hits vs. FLA (4/6), tying for the most hits in a single game by any Hurricanes player this season. Cedric Paquette set that record just one game prior (4/4 vs. DAL). Since returning to the lineup on 3/30, Trocheck has posted 20 hits, one behind Jordan Staal (21). Staal and Trocheck rank fourth and fifth in the NHL, respectively, over that span. Andrei Svechnikov also posted five hits against the Panthers after posting a career-high six hits against the Stars on Sunday.

BRING IT ON With a win vs. FLA (4/6), the Hurricanes improved to 26-9-3 (55 points) in 2020-21, setting the franchise record for points through the team’s first 38 games of any season. The previous record was 52 points (24-10-4), set in 2005-06. Carolina has posted a league-leading .724 points percentage this season.

HOME SWEET HOME The Hurricanes are 2-1-0 on their current home stand. This eight-game home stand is tied for the second-longest in franchise history. Carolina went 5-2- 1 on an eight-game home stand from 1/30/18-2/13/18, and the team also played nine straight home games from 10/30/02-11/19/02, going 4-0-3-2. The Hurricanes are now 13-2-3 at PNC Arena this season, and their .806 home points percentage trails only NYI (.895) and PIT (.825) for the league lead.
