UArts Alums ILL DOOTS release new album

Philly-based ILL DOOTS just released their first self titled LP. ILL DOOTS is a collective of artists, educators and activists featuring the talents of UArts alumni Anthony Martinez-Briggs BFA '13 (Acting), Scott Ziegler BM '13 (Music Performance, Bass) Andrew Nittoli BM '13 & MM '14 (Music Performance, Percussion), Latasha Morris BM '06 (Voice), Sam Borrello BM '13 (Music Performance, Guitar), Jordan McCree BM '13, (Music Performance, Drums) and Riley Fressie BS '16 (MBET). In 2009 the group started out as freshman at UArts in a jam session: a kid from Boston who came to UArts to study bass and loved J Dilla, an enthusiastic young drummer from Reading, PA , and an acting student from Maryland who kicked freestyle rhymes. Brought together by an orientation-week open-mic night, ILL DOOTS has evolved from movie samples and sprawling lyrics created in Pine dorm rooms and Merriam Hall into a live, "funky beast" of a band known for "elevating minds, filling hearts, and moving bodies."
