Angelelli, in his first drive for Team Cadillac this year, led the trio of black CTS-Vs from qualifying through the first two thirds of the race, until a gearbox problem dropped him to fifth. Papis and Pilgrim SPEED WORLD then charged forward into second and third. Papis and the leading Porsche were nose to tail on lap 29 as the cars slowed for turn 6. CHALLENGE GT, Papis went wide to square off the corner and the Porsche appeared to RACE #3 block him. The cars made contact and the Porsche spun off course. Road Atlanta Papis assumed the lead and charged to the checkered flag.
