Title: DOOR STAFF / SECURITY

Reports To: MANAGER OR ASSSISTANT MANAGER

Objective:

Door Staff are unarmed, security professional who ensures the facility maintains legal compliance by not allowing minors into and turning away visitors who may be intoxicated. They also administer crowd control, resolves any disturbances and are generally responsible for the safety of customers and employees at the venue they are working.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 Greet guests and tell them about the drink specials and of the night. Do not state a to a customer until you have informed them of the current drink specials. As customers are leaving, thank them and tell them to have a good evening.

 ALWAYS BE POLITE to the customers, no matter how difficult it may be.

 Arrive at the club no later than 30 minutes prior to your shift start and begin cleaning and preparing the door area, both inside and outside.

 Once the club opens you must remain in the door area until the club closes. If you need to leave to go to the bathroom have another staff member cover your station.

 Watch for customers arriving intoxicated. Do not allow customers who are overly intoxicated to enter the club, handle the situation in a professional and courteous manner. A little diplomacy goes a long way towards avoiding confrontation at the door. Always avoid confrontation at the door with customers; hostile patrons should be immediately referred to management and/or security.

 At the end of the evening, all customers that are leaving one of our bars should be directed to our other open businesses and given the current flyer.

 Minors ARE NOT PERMITTED in Sparky’s or Knockout, however, HEAT is an 18+ club.

 Any guests that are unruly may be asked to leave for the night by the door staff.

 The door staff does not have the ability to permanently bar any customers.

 Customers who are problematic should be brought to the attention of management.

 At the end of your shift ensure all customers are out of the venue, sweep your area of responsibility and then LOCK THE DOOR. It is the responsibility of the door staff to ensure the front door is locked when the bar closes and then again before you leave for the night. Tell the to move to the service entrance when the front door is locked.

 Never call or emergency assistance at customers’ request, you must have Management approval.

 Other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge & Experience Required:

 High school diploma or equivalent GED or certificate required  Door & Security Staff must sign an additional Responsibilities List for those specific positions regarding drinking and maintaining your post that must be kept in employee file.  You must be physically fit, have a professional, clean and appropriate appearance at all times  Previous experience working in a bar or restaurant as a bouncer, security or door staff is highly desirable  Experience in working in a fast-paced, volume sales business desirable  Good verbal communication and listening skills and proven experience working with diverse populations  A can-do attitude and willingness to help with improving the team functioning during your shift

Key Measurements of Success:

 Excellent attendance.  Smooth functioning of bar service for entire shift.  Problems solved quickly and to standard.  Clean and tidy appearance of exterior area of the entire business.  Willingness to help where needed and positive teamwork for shift.

Working Conditions  Hours may vary if employee must fill in for his/her employees or if emergencies arise (typical work week = 35 hours). Also late hours as we are open seven days a week.  Ability to perform all functions at the restaurant level, including delivery when needed.  Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.  Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operates phones, computers, fax machines, copiers, and other office equipment.
