Rossall School in partnership with Fleetwood Town Football Club is offering the opportunity to study at a HMC , whilst being immersed in the world of a professional league football team. Each pupil will be part of an elite football development programme under the umbrella of Fleetwood Town International Football Academy delivered by their elite coaching staff.

Fleetwood Town Football Club is a professional English Football League Club with a major commitment to nurturing young talent. It has a future firmly focused on development and pathways to success, demonstrated by the recent opening of its £10m state of the art training complex at nearby Poolfoot Farm, opened by Manchester United’s former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson in April 2016.

Fleetwood Town has been promoted six times in the last decade. They are a club on the rise, with firm plans set for an exciting future both on and off the field. Premier League sensation, Jamie Vardy, of Leicester City and , made his name in Fleetwood Town colours, attracting attention from one of the game’s biggest clubs, eventually moving for a record fee. The club is confident that others will soon follow in his footsteps.

Their Highbury Stadium lies just 3km from Rossall School.

Rossall School has an impressive campus of 160 acres on the picturesque coast in England’s North West region. The school was founded in 1844 and has a rich heritage, with stunning period architecture featured at every turn.

Pupils in Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13 can be accepted onto the programme. Any pupil admitted to the programme would therefore be between 15 and 19 years of age. A pupil would be part of the programme for a minimum of one year, but possibly longer, in order to complete an academic qualification. Rossall School offers courses in English as an Additional Language, iGCSE and GCSE, A Levels and BTEC Sport Level 3 Diploma and the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

THE FOOTBALL PROGRAMME

Whether you have already played in a Professional Academy, with aspirations to play professionally, or simply wish to develop your footballing ability, the programme is designed to develop players, so that they can fulfil their potential, with opportunities to progress at various levels within the sport.

Players can progress onto the programme if Fleetwood Town Academy Staff are satisfied that their ability and skills are right for this level of football.

COACHING

Pupils will follow Fleetwood Town’s own academy periodisation programme for a full school year at both Rossall School and Fleetwood Town’s Poolfoot Farm Complex.

This will focus on weekly and school term specific targets, working towards achieving the Fleetwood Town philosophy ‘to educate, develop and produce creative players that are physically, technically and tactically astute’.

Players will become familiar with the ‘FLEETWOOD TOWN 10’, a series of ‘ball mastery’ exercises, which are implemented at every training session. SPORT SCIENCE

A comprehensive strength and conditioning programme will be followed throughout the year, with each pupil provided with a tailor-made programme, monitored at every stage by fitness testing and other evaluation methods.

Chartered Physiotherapy support will be available throughout the school year along with advice on nutrition, lifestyle, and physical well-being.

GAMES PROGRAMME

There will be opportunities to compete both for Rossall School and Fleetwood Town in various competitions and different formats of the game, ensuring all pupils get maximum exposure in competitive match situations.

ENRICHMENT

There will also be opportunities to work and understand the entire running of a professional football club, with access to the heads of department, including the 1st Head Coach, Technical Director and Chief Executive. Pupils will begin to understand how a professional football club is run in all areas including Media, Recruitment, Medical and in general business.

There will be further opportunities to obtain coaching and leadership awards and to use these in a practical environment.

Players will receive full Fleetwood Town Training Kit and will receive a Free Season Ticket for Fleetwood Town’s home matches.

Those on the programme will also experience the culture of the game in the football-besotted North West of England – a region which is home to some of the biggest teams in world football including: Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Everton.

FEES

Pupils would initially choose their academic course at Rossall from the range on offer. They would have to attend for a minimum of one year, and players will have three terms of football between September and June each academic year. The cost (excluding school fees) to join the Elite Football Programme Elite Football Programme is £4,005 per year and is payable through three equal termly fees of £1335.

The age range of pupils in the programme would be from Year 11 to 13.
