1. SHORT SUMMARY MOZAIK FOUNDATION is a social enterprise based in with a mission to identify, empower and invest in value-driven and innovative social entrepreneurs. We are committed to achieve our 10-year impact: “Between 2016 and 2025 Mozaik will lead the development of a break-through generation of entrepreneurial and innovative youth - a value-driven force that creates new social and economic value, creates new jobs and serves as role model to other youth.”

Our impact is achieved through two interrelated programs: YouthBank, where we identify and empower young social innovators and entrepreneurs through community grants. In 2017, 5.609 young people apply for our support. Through YB program, we supported 157 community projects, totaling 336.479 Euro. 45% of this amount was raised by non-formal groups and additional 32% Mozaik raised from municipalities.

Our second program, Social Business Incubator, provides free and quality support to young social entrepreneurs, who are identified through YB program or applied with their ideas. In 2017, we incubated 58 social businesses ideas and invested in prototype development of 14 new businesses. One was ready for registration and we provided seed investment.

Mozaik’s annual budget was 1.272.907 Euro and beside strategic partnerships with 32 municipalities and private foundations (Mott, Bosch, Porticus, Medicor, Zeit and UniCredit), we agreed on partnership with one individual donor through EVPA and one fund – EFSE. In December, we signed the contract with the Swiss Development Cooperation on 6-mont precredit to develop project for the next four years.

In 2017 we established LONAC.pro, on/offline community for entrepreneurship and activism that will gather 20.000 people by April 2019 and provide free and quality end-to end solution to entrepreneurs and activities in BiH and the region. We expect large collective impact to be achieved through this community.

LONAC.pro increases our IT solutions for program management and operations. In addition, we established position of Research and Development Director and initiated the Mozaik Impact Fund II that will try to collect 25M and provide impact investments in 17

3

countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Finally, in partnership with PMI, we will establish physical space, LONAC Hub at the Faculty of Economics in .

3. PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES

3.1. EMPOWERING THE BREAKTHROUGH GENERATION (STRATEGIC PROGRAM) The project “Empowering the Youth Breakthrough Generation” is our strategic program, that leads to our promised impact. After successful piloting in 2015 and 2016, in 2017 we had a national scaling and responded to the needs of our beneficiaries in more flexible manner. Finally, almost 6.000 people were offered support in developing activism or social entrepreneurship We are proud that several private foundations and local governments recognized potential of this endeavor and decided to support Mozaik financially for mid- to long- term: the Mott Foundation (250.000 USD) Robert Bosch Stiftung (450.000 EUR), the anonymous donor (450.000 EUR), Medicor Foundation (300.000 EUR), Zeit Stiftung (200.000 EUR) and 125.000 EUR from BiH governments (32 partner municipalities). In addition, Austrian Development Agency and Light for the World, our long-term partners, decided to support us in making our strategy fully inclusive. We build new partnerships with EFSE, UniCredit Foundation and private investor from USA. We are proud that more and more private companies are recognizing our efforts towards collective impact and several have approached us to establish a cooperation in 2019 – Telemach supported YB projects and we are in the final stage of negotiation with three more international companies. Finally, in December 2017, we signed 6-mont pre-credit with Swiss Development Cooperation to finalize development of the strategy in the next four years. SDC will provide up to 50% cofounding of our efforts and this will allow Mozaik to implement planned scaling. Our approach consists of two interrelated programs: YouthBank is the first, where young people learn through our curriculum (on-line training, face-to-face trainings and learning by doing through social innovative projects),. Young woman and man with the potential to become social entrepreneurs were invited to enter the second phase – Social Business Incubator, on-line incubator that provides full tailor-made support for youth in order to accelerate their development and development of their social business idea. Finally, these who will run successful social businesses, will be invited to M-club, alumni program with strong group identity and great promotion to become role-model for other youth in the country.

6

During development of the strategic orientation and implementation of the pilot phase, Mozaik had great support from the US Deloitte consultants (pro-bono worth of 3 million USD).

7

3.1.1. YOUTHBANK PROGRAM 3.1.1.1. MOUS BETWEEN MOZAIK AND 32 MUNICIPALITIES One of the cornerstone for successful development of YBs is establishing fruitful partnership with municipalities in BiH. In November 2016 Mozaik has signed in Memorandums of Understanding with 32 municipalities that allocated 260.000 EUR in their budgets for YBs program development over the period 2017/18.

25 municipalities were partners from previus years (, , , Cazin, Jug, Gorazde, Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje, , , Kozarska Dubica, , Modrica, Mrkonjic Grad, Novi Grad, Novi , Odzak, , Sipovo, Tesanj, Usora, , Zavidovici, , Zepče and Zivinice) and 7 municipalities were new partners (Doboj, Istocna Ilidza, Kostajnica, Kotor Varos, Laktasi, and ).

Beside financial contribution to YB program, municipalities also provide assistance to promotion of YB program, logistic support for organizing social innovation tournaments. Finally, they include YB program as a significant contribution to municipal Youth policy documents.

3.1.1.2. CAPACITY BUILDING FOR YB BOARD MEMBERS At the beginning of 2017 our 32 YBs had 200 (100 females and 100 males) board members (including 125 new board members that were selected through the public call in December 2016). For new YBs board members we have organized in January 2017 four one-day regional capacity building trainings. “Old” YB board members had a crucial role on these peer-to-peer trainings.

Intensive training to advance the responsibilities of 56 (30 females, and 25 males) board members to have active role as facilitators (33), judges (19) and IT support (4) at the Social Innovation Tournaments was organized from 21 -23 of April in Sarajevo.

Training combined theoretical approach, interactive workshops and role-play during tournaments, with intensive usage of IT technology. Youth facilitators, judges, IT support and Mozaik staff were trained for the next phase. Mozaik prepared the handbook for Social Innovation Tournaments with in-detail defined processes and individual responsibilities of facilitators and judges. 8

3.1.1.3. SOCIAL INNOVATION TOURNAMENTS During March 2017, Mozaik run the campaign to invite young people to register for our programs (see Marketing section for more details). After one month, 5.609 youth from 121 municipalities have registered, and they got the opportunity to pass two on- line courses (I have a Dream and Social Innovation). Our public campaign in BiH reached our expectation (please, see https://goo.gl/8c7yvF https://goo.gl/F4hEfo https://goo.gl/PwWQrL)

As a part of campaing, 148 board members organized 144 presentations that attended 2.229 youth from small communities. In addition, YBs board members organized M- zone presentations for 200 students at Universities in Bihac, , Sarajevo, East Sarajevo, and .

Mozaik put additional effort to make everything on M-zone accessible (our promotional videos include sign language interpretation) and number of people with disabilities registered for the program was 174. We also tried to increase number of women who apply for M-zone by using gender sensitive language, female role- models and carefully designed messaging. Finally, percentage of women who applied to program was 45%.

9

In total, 1.708 young people went through two on-line courses on social innovation and envisioning future and pass the tests on their values and competencies that led them o the next stage.

Those young people formed 375 teams (non-formal groups were from 58 municipalities/ cities) until 30th April, and they got invitation for social innovation tournaments (competitive and collaborative process to develop their social innovative ideas and present them in the front of youth judges).

Mozaik staff has identified potential tournaments locations in municipalities (schools, cultural centers, sports venues, municipal premises) that could accommodate up to 150 people per event. All 11 tournaments were successfully implemented from 6th to 29th of May 2017 in Sarajevo, Bugojno, Zepce, Doboj, Tesanj, Mrkonjic Grad, Bosanska Krupa, Novi Grad, Modrica, Kozarska Dubica and Lopare (you could see short video: https://goo.gl/76dgQM)

10

Photos from the social innovation tournaments in Mrkonjic Grad, Kozarska Dubica and Sarajevo

These full-day events were implemented with support from Mozaik staff (5), municipalities and youth representatives from the boards who had roles as facilitators (33), judges (19) and IT support (4). Majority of them were engaged on 4 and more tournaments. During highly demanding process, young people were using technology to facilitate the process from idea development to its selection. Mozaik staff as counselors of tournament leaded the whole process. Trained facilitators supported youth groups to draft their ideas, from problem to solution. The second part of the tournament included learning on transformation of good idea into story and preparation of the pitches in front of judges. The third part of tournament was completely dedicated to pitches. Every team had 5 minutes for presentation, followed by 5 minutes for judges’ questions. IT support was crucial for speeding up processes of developing ideas by youth, preparing presentations, scoring and making reports. Finally, at the end of every day, reflection and evaluation meeting of Mozaik staff with facilitators, judges and IT support was held. After cleaning the venue, we packed all materials and traveled to the next municipality.

11

Finally, 679 young people (324 female and 355 male) from 42 municipalities all over BiH participated in tournaments – at least four members from every of 152 non-formal groups that attended the tournaments. We were hoping for higher number of participants at the tournaments, however, most of the groups could not provide all 5 or 7 members at the tournament due to personal or professional obligations. We were flexible in appointing date and/or place of the tournament and we set it according to their requests– every group could decide if they want to attend tournament on another date or in another city.

Non-formal groups that win support at SIT have had two weeks to pass two more on- line courses (How to develop project and My community-my responsibility) and only then submit their idea in the form of project proposal through M-zone. All projects of winners that satisfied these criteria was officially approved and have been proceeding to signing contracts with Mozaik. It is important to emphasize that 90% of approved projects have inclusive character – actively include marginalized groups in planning and implementation. 13

This was challenging task for some groups and process completed 171 non-formal groups from 39 municipalities /cities. Due to lack of financial contribution 6 groups could not sign contracts.

3.1.1.4. SOCIALLY INNOVATIVE PROJECTS – COMMUNITY ACTIONS Mozaik has signed agreement with 165 non-formal groups from 39 municipalities and cities which projects have been awarded. 156 non-formal groups were from 32 municipalities that as partners financially co-funding program and projects. 9 non- formal youth groups were from 7 municipalities and cities with which Mozaik did not have any agreement for co-funding projects. Mozaik has signed the agreement with non-formal groups at the ceremonies in municipalities, and project implementation period was July 1st to November 15th, 2017.

Photos (including Bos Krupa municipal mayor’s “selfie”) from ceremonies in municipalities Bosanska Krupa and Novi Grad. Those two YBs are the best and awarded 26 projects. While they were implementing projects, youth had a chance to pass in M-zone three on-line courses to enable successful project development and local resource mobilization. At the same time, through our Test-Invest® methodology, young people were assessed to identify these with the right values and desired competencies. During implementation every youth group was visited by trained youth monitors, Mozaik staff and representatives of municipalities. M-zone has been used by members of youth groups and Mozaik for reporting and analytics.

14

Out of 165 awarded projects, 157 groups successfully completed all planned activities. Mozaik has terminated contracts with 8 groups as they fall apart and did not start with the project implementation. 3.1.1.5. PROMOTION OF PROJECTS’ RESULTS

15

After implementation of youth projects, we have organized ceremonies in municipalities aiming to promote achievements and results of supported youth projects at municipal level. These events were hosted by governmental representatives and board members who were welcoming youth groups, and other stakeholders from communities who supported the actions. For these events we have printed posters of successfully implemented projects to promote results and increase of support provided by our donors and partners. In addition, we have provided certificate of achievements for youth groups, board members, and stakeholders that have provided additional contribution to youth projects.

Photo made during celebrating results ceremony in Bosanska Krupa

Recognition of youth engagement and achieved results at local level is very important for all stakeholders, and involvement of municipal mayors enable easier budgeting of funds for youth programs for next year.

3.1.1.6. MOZAIK ANNUAL CONFERENCE Foundation Mozaik organized annual conference “All for Youth - Youth for All’’ in Sarajevo on 7-8 December and where we gathered 150 representatives of partners,

16

donors and YBs boards. This Conference was excellent opportunity to promote results of 10th Anniversary of Mozaik Youth Bank program in BiH.

Mr.

Zoran Puljic, Director of Foundation Mozaik awarded representatives of municipalities Mrkonjic Grad, Modrica and Tesanj for 10 years engagement in YB development; and Mr. David Kramer, Deputy Director of SDC delivered introduction speech

During the 10 years of YB program Mozaik with 38 partner municipalites, dorors and youth achieved following results:  1735 supported and implemented youth projects in total value of 3,2 mil EUR (52% provided youth through mobilization local resources in their commmunities);  20.935 entrepreneurial volunteers engaged over 735.000 voluntary hours during projects implementation, and direct benefit of these projects have had over 730.500 people in BiH.

Two panel discussions moderated by Mozaik were focusing issues of social cohesion (YB model), and youth entrepreneurship (Mozaik social business incubator) joined representatives of municipalities and youth.

17

During the second day, we gathered representatives of YBs and municipalities to introduce on-/offline community LONAC. Improvements in YB model and Social Business Incubator were discussed and plans for following years presented.

3.1.1.7. REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF YOUTHBANK MODEL Foundation Mozaik as lead partner strengthen YouthBank model previous years in Serbia with Divac Foundation, in Croatia with Europe Foundation for Philanthropy and Society Development (unfortunately they stopped program in 2017 due to lack of funds). We have partnership with Europe Foundation Georgia on supporting transfer know how amongst YBs from Georgia, Abkhazia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mozaik is active member of YouthBank International network (joined 23 foundations and organizations that support over 200 YBs), and since September 2017 Mozaik support establishing and development of YB network in Macedonia in partnership with Mladi Info.

3.1.2. SOCIAL BUSINESS INCUBATOR

Mozaik Foundation offers extensive business development support to prospective young social entrepreneurs. Incubation period within our incubator is tailored to each business, where all teams are asked to participate in a series of events. It all starts with a Business Innovation Tournament or a Kickoff event. In this part of incubation, start- up teams spend about 5 to 8 weeks developing and validating their social business concept using tools such as social business canvas. After successful concept validation on Demo Day I, selected teams access to pre-seed investment used for prototype development and testing. What follows is a 4-5 months of intensive market research and product/service testing, overseen by experienced mentors.

Findings from the first phase of incubation are brought by teams to Demo Day II, where participants pitch their social business ideas to an investment committee that decides what businesses will receive further support to the amount of 7,500 EUR. This second investment is accompanied by a contract regulating ownership and obligations

18

of each side – Mozaik Foundation and the Team who brought about the business idea – in the new social enterprise to be registered jointly.

The whole journey from an idea to a registered business is guided and supported by an expanded pool of external mentors, professionals in all walks of business and academic background. End of 2017, we widened our mentoring base by additional 7 mentors from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad. Our plan is to keep expanding the pool to cover every aspect of the social business development cycle. This ambitious plan partly relies on our Corporate Volunteering Programme due to start in Q1 of 2018. Mid and senior level managers from major international and domestic corporations will partake in weekly mentoring sessions for businesses within our incubator.

A series of events in 2017 organised by Mozaik contributed to building a solid base for incubation of new businesses. Throughout the year, young women and men developed 58 social business ideas, whilst Mozaik invested pre-seed into 14 social business prototypes and registered one social business.

A wave of BITs between July and mid-October attracted 84 teams (out of 93 who applied to participate), with 137 members (out of 156 who applied). Out of the total number of participants, the per cent of women who applied reached 39%. Two participants with disabilities also took part in these events.

The main aim of these tournaments was to present the first concept of a business idea and explain the process of incubation in our Social Business Incubator.

3.1.2.2. KICKOFF WORKSHOP

Successful candidates from BITs were invited for a Kickoff workshop, held in Sarajevo on 21-22 October. Out of 59 teams invited, 40 participated at the event, consisting of 58 team members. Almost one third of participants (21) at this event were female, and the event was attended by one person with disability.

20

Figure 1 Participants of the final BIT held in October in Sarajevo

The event attracted participants from 27 towns and municipalities across BiH. A team of 12 Mozaik employees worked on organizing and hosting the event, half of which acted as mentors during 1:1 sessions with individual teams helping them define Business Model, Social Impact, Product and Service, Value Proposition, Clients and Users, Key Resources and Channels of Communication. Further one external volunteer mentor attended, working specifically on team building and motivation, to try and reduce the high drop-out rate experienced before due to team building challenges.

Agenda consisted of a presentation on support available from Mozaik Foundation to young people with business ideas. As the day continued, participants were presented with the Business Canvas model, and were then assigned sessions with each mentor for a 1:1 discussion of each segment of their Business Canvas. Second day was used to go through preparations for a pitching presentation of their idea, giving each team 21

a base for the next event in December (Demo Day I). All participants were asked to sign a partnership agreement as a sign of intention to continue working and developing their idea within Mozaik’s Incubator.

Our support continued after the event, with mentoring support from a range of experiences mentors collaborating via Skype and Trello to build a meaningful Business Canvas and pitching presentation with a clear ‘call to action’ and prototype definition, in preparation for Demo Day I.

Teams were provided with the information package which contained the following items:

 - Introductory letter;  - Short overview of social business model;  - Principles of social businesses in Mozaik Foundation;  - Ownership shares and their distribution in future businesses;  - Social Business Canvas model;  - Notes on how to use Social Business Canvas;  - Design thinking tool and instructions on how to use it;  - Client/Customer segmentation tool;  - Instruction on how to design product or service;  - Forming your team;  - Partnership agreement;  - M-zone roadmap;  - Important dates and milestones;  - Matrix for social business development progress;  - Mentorship meeting log;  - Notes on developing effective presentation and pitch.

3.1.2.3. TEAMS IN MOZAIK’S INCUBATOR

25

Agrorevolucija is our registered business with ability to produce high-quality meat using the original recipe of locally produced fodder in the livestock food chain. Fodder food will be provided to the co-operative of small agricultural producers, guarateeing distribution and fair price for the raw material. When it starts producing at its full planned capacity, Agrorevolucija will provide 150 tons of healthy and tested meat, with clear labelling on origin and ingredients. Business is currently looking for investors to finance a large scale meat production facility in Cazin, which will secure regular income for over 30 people.

Feel The Space invented a product that solves a major problem for blind and partially sighted people, helping them move about more easily by overcoming obstacles without the white stick. Spekta is a device that can serve as a replacement for the white stick by scanning user's surroundings within a range of up to 4 meters to find potential obstacles, allowing the user to move freely by reproducing adequate 3D (binaural) sound to his/hers headphones. Reliable audio environment reduces the need for blind people to remember handles, stairs, signs and other objects in their surrounding, which are helpful when orientating but may pose a danger at the same time. Although not yet registered (due to patent pending), Feel The Space spent 2017 actively developing its second prototype.

ARQUA, another business awaiting registration due to pending patent registration, designed a modular reservoir to solve water restriction problems and enable smarter management of this important resource. The ARQUA system of modular reservoirs ensures a

3.3. MOZAIK’S DEPARTMENTS

3.3.1. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT Mozaik Foundation's programmes engage on a regular, annual basis over thousands of youth from across BiH. Through different stages of the existing programmes, i.e. YouthBanks and Social Incubator, we collect data on their demografics, employment status, professional ambition, propensity to risk taking as well as on the values that underpin their professional behavior. In October 2017, Mozaik Foundation set up a R&D function in order to make full use of the existing and future data in terms of improving 29

the content of the programmes, internal process flows and to better understand the needs of our beneficiaries.

There are several ways in which this function aims to improve the performance of the organisation: 1. Our M&E process will be fully internalised and integrated with other functional processes. In previous years, we had to hire an external organisation to conduct our monitoring and evaluation processes and this was costly, time and money wise. External organisation was not able to understand the depth of our processes as much as someone who is asign a role of internal researcher will through simple everyday observation and data analysis. 2. Our impact statement will be supplemented with a clear, and internally owned impact measurement methodology and tool kit. Mozaik Foundation has a very clear idea of what it will achieve by 2025. To get there and be able to generalise on our findings we have to have clear, theoretically supported and consistent methodology and indicators of success. We will work on impact measurement on two levels: for the organisation as a whole and for social businesses from our portfolio. Our social businesses will also receive a clear guidelines on how to monitor, record and report on their social impact by the end of each year. The end result of this should be a report that will unite impact of the organisation on youth to the point of creating their social business but also the impact on society of social businesses established through Mozaik's programmes. 3. Our internal decisions will be fully data-driven. Programme activities are fully flexible categories in Mozaik's programme. Adjustment to our activities will be done in reaction to research findings rather than on an ad-hoc basis. Now we will implement smart use of data to support all changes to activities carried our in order to reach our end result. 4. Policy proposals resulting from real-time data. On/Offline community Mozaik is embarking upon should provide us with access to real-time data on community users. We will be producing policy proposals based on our observations of this data. 5. Research to serve the improvement of the programmes and departments. R&D function will be very much related to marketing activities and functions but will aspire to serve all other departments and programmes as well in order to improve on the process and content delivery. In the first six months of 2018, we will be producing 30

two analyses that will help in that regard: one is gender analysis of our activities and other is evaluation of our role-model strategy.

3.3.2. MARKETING DEPARTMENT Our marketing efforts were focused on brand building activities with strong strategic approach towards achieving social impact. Mozaik, as a brand has an internal and external role in expressing foundation’s purposes, methods, and values. In addition to our new WoW (details in Annual Report 2016.) and to further strengthen our brand, we have encompassed five core elements:

 1. A Clear Vision  2. A Distinctive Identity  3. Consistency  4. Collaborative spirit  5. Knowledge sharing All the activities were in line with this strategy and they consistently position Mozaik as the creator of good economy.

The following activities were implemented (all details are presented in the Annex of the Annual Reported)

 Website Redesign:  Campaign 2017 - Open Call for Young People  Promotional Videos  Roadmap Video  Animated Web Banners  Support of Public Figures and Inspirational Young People, Influencers  Posters  BTL Activities  Microsite  Media Coverage  Demo Day II  Social Innovation Tournaments (SIT)  Newsletter - eMpresso: 31

4.2. MAŠTA AGENCY MaŠta is a marketing agency and social business owned by Mozaik Foundation with the core competencies in event management. In 2017, MaŠta Agency organized and completed 8 events and several other projects. Agency has achieved respectable results in 2017 and ensured sustainability for the following year through continuous striving to be the best client-oriented service available!

The Agency had started the year with only one employee and ended it with 4 people.

On May the 1st, Agency took over the TechSoup Program which has been considered as the right decision for both MaŠta and Mozaik. The income from the Program was 57.332,50 BAM, and not only from administrative fees but also from the other projects such as organization of 32 small events for children and youth in Croatia and Serbia within the project Meet and Code (EU Code Week).

35

In six months, the value-added services have been developed, such as refurbished hardware and webinars as the educational resources for NGOs. These value-added services imply vying on the market and better sales orientation, and at the same time amplifying skills of current employees. TechSoup Balkans started the business from the new perspective considering software donations as only one technological solution to NGOs.

36

In 2018, we expect upgrading the existing products and services. Also, joining the new team members will significantly improve and grow both existing and new projects. MaŠta Agency is about to develop strategy and define long term goals which will include both profit and nonprofit (TechSoup) sectors. 5. MOZAIK’S DEVELOPMENT

5.1. M-FUND – ENDOWMENT BUILDING ACTIVITIES Endowment building strategy is one of pillars of Mozaik’s long-term sustainability. We have signed the agreement with Mott Foundation for a matching grant of 500.000 USD for the first 250.000 that we succeed to fundraise. The contract was signed until December 2016, with an one-year extension.

Mozaik’s board has decided to put Mozaik’s asset, the house we own in the old city, as contribution to endowment fund. Finally, in December 2017, we succeeded to sell the house and our endowment fund is almost 200.000 USD. We asked for additional 3-month extension to finalize payment with buyer.

5.2. CEE REGIONAL IMPACT FUND As the activities to implement various aspects of the Mozaik’s ten-year strategy unfolded, we found ourselves at the onset of a critical phase for the full strategy implementation – 37

to secure a long-term financial, technical, and market infrastructure for the social enterprises. This was a common area of concern for all social impact actors and stakeholders in the Central and Eastern Europe.

The financial infrastructure calls for a long-term and a diversified source of funding. Currently, the CEE region is critically lacking the right level and type of financial resources as only 35% of European resources for social enterprises are spent in CEE and venture philanthropy investment is 65 times lower in CEE than in Western Europe. Following a period of discussions dating back as far as the 2015 EBRD Annual Meeting, this track became a focus of the policy work Mozaik contributed to within the CEE Impact Investment Task Force organized under the umbrella of the European Venture Philanthropy Association.

In 2017 Mozaik initiated development of a regional social impact fund that will bridge this gap and enable access-to-finance solution to European social enterprises and impact- driven businesses. The fund is called MIF II Impact Venture Fund and it will be launched in 2018.

38

The MIF II will provide equity, quasi-equity and hybrid financing to European impact- driven small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and social enterprises whose products resolve complex societal challenges while generating financial returns. The Fund will invest in European seed and early-growth impact-driven SMEs, value-chain providers, intermediaries, and social enterprises whose products and services target, reach, and impact tens of thousands clients and beneficiaries. The MIF II will invest in the European impact and venture markets, with a particular focus on the following countries: Albania, Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

39

MIF II will make up to 40 minority investments from EUR 0.25 to 2.5 million that it will aim to hold for seven to ten years. It will focus on high growth and high impact sectors: care and healthcare, financial services, sustainable agriculture and food processing, clean energy and technology, community and education.

40

The MIF II’s intelligent and patient capital extended to social enterprises and impact- driven companies with high growth potential will help them accelerate their product roadmaps, scale regionally and globally, and improve targeting of social issues to deliver better outcomes.

5.2.1. HUMAN RESOURCES After closing of PRO-Future program, Mozaik had 17 full time staff members. In order to achieve results we aim, we had to change our organizational structure from vertical to horizontal, where we work in highly professional teams. In 2017, our Executive Director enrolled in Leadership program in Adizes Institute in Belgrade what heled us create new structure and organization to support our impact.

We developed new job descriptions, defining responsibilities and accountabilities of every employee and introduced Teamwork as a software for operational planning.. Thanks to TechSoup donation, we are all using office 365 that enabled us better communication among teams.

41

Thanks to LONAC, we are developing new modules for YouthBank and financial operations. It will be launched in April 2018 and will significantly decrease number of operations in our financial department.

Mozaik’s 3-member board is involved and active – they participate in all decision making processes and promote Mozaik’s strategy widely.

5.3. NETWORKS In 2017 we continued with active participation on several networks: Grantmakers East Forum, European Foundation Centre, SIGN Network and National Network for Building Peace, NGO Council. Mozaik became full member of EVPA and governing council member of European Foundation Centre.

The regional SIGN network is successfully implementing EU funded project SIGN for Sustainability, led by Trag, while Horus, fAct, VIA, FIQ and Mozaik are the partners.

Finally, we are investing a lot into developing strong non-formal network of social business and business that can support our curriculum, competency model and development of our social entrepreneurs. We are developing strong base of mentors who can support our social businesses during incubation process.

WEBSITE REDESIGN: The outdated design, mobile unresponsive, poor user experience were just a few reasons why we needed to remodel our website. It did not reflect the changes and transformation that Mozaik was undergoing therefore we opted for total redesign. Our new homepage was created to ‘wear a lot of hats'. It was not generated like a dedicated landing page built around one particular action, it is designed to serve different audiences, from different origins. And in order to do so effectively, it was built with purpose and it incorporates elements that attract traffic, inform & educate visitors, and invite conversions. Our new website is fully responsive, aesthetically pleasing, easy to use, engaging, and effective.

CAMPAIGN 2017: CAMPAIGN 2017– open call to enter the M-zone. The aim of the campaign was to attract minimum of 5.000 young people, ages 17-35, who are ambitious, passionate, honest, and humble, have grit and empathy, and want to improve something in their community. The campaign was designed to convey the primary message to our potential consumers: SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE OR LIFE IN YOUR COMMUNITY FOR THE BETTER, MOZAIK WILL BACK YOU UP. Campaign slogan is: TREBAŠ NEKOG DA TE POGURA? It does not translate into English as it is slang 44

terminology that young people use when they need help in form of finance, support, guidance etc.

The campaign was predominantly in digital format with complementary BTL activities. The creative elements of the campaign are:

3 VIDEOS: Videos were presented in storytelling chat format with three different situation settings. These three combinations were selected in order to create emotional resonance with target audience and drive deeper, more substantial relationships between us and our consumers. Videos were produced to work well on both the desktop and mobile environments. https://www.facebook.com/fondacijamozaik/videos/1382753708463145/ https://www.facebook.com/fondacijamozaik/videos/1391458717592644/ https://www.facebook.com/fondacijamozaik/videos/1412969165441599/

Microsite: To provide our potential users with deeper explanation of what M-zone is and to answer their most frequently asked questions we created a campaign–based microsite. It is an independent site with its own URL, fully responsive and its sole purpose was to anchor and support the campaign. Users were able to navigate to the question, click on it and wait for a reply. The site was designed in a way that it gave an impression of real time communication. http://www.mozaik.ba/m-zona/index.html

DEMO DAY II: Passion was the theme of this year’s Demo Day II. It is one of the six values which we have recognized as essential for becoming successful social entrepreneur. This year, seven teams completed both phases i.e. the full incubation, and were eligible to pitch for investment.

They pitched their social businesses to the investment committee and in front of the audience who also had the opportunity to vote for their favorite. The teams came from various parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina with very diverse and wide ranging businesses. The judges decided to split awardees into two categories based on team briefs and their presentations:

51

 Direct investment (Superžena and Adakta) as two most investment ready at the time of presentation;  Conditional investment (Arqua, BrainsGather, Feel the Space, Mislilica)

SOCIAL INNOVATION TOURNAMENTS (SIT) : The main purpose of the SIT visual design was to be thought provoking, inspirational and stimulating for tournament participants. The message of what social innovation is or what it can be was conveyed via visually striking imagery which were greatly enhanced by using color as a design tool. The layered elements of the visual give viewers something to think about, but don’t distract them from their main task.

NEWSLETTER - eMpresso:

In order to showcase all the activities and the work within the Foundation, to strengthen our relationships and maintain regular contact with stakeholders, partners and users we have decided to develop a quarterly newsletter. Since the newsletter itself covers so much ground and accomplishes many things, we wanted to give it a compelling title, one that would convince readers that our newsletter pages are packed with valuable information they don’t want to miss.

Hence the name eMpresso:

 e- representing electronic format  M- for Mozaik  Press – journalist/newsletter association  The word empress itself means business, so it fitted perfectly. eMpresso is designed more as a magazine than newsletter. Its cover page always features most significant event, person or activity of the quarter.

So far, we have issued thee editions:

PROJECTS IN COMMUNITIES AS POSITIVE STORIES: We used positive storytelling format to showcase the exceptional projects that were carried out in various cities and municipalities. Sharing these stories is effective way we can motivate and inspire others. https://www.facebook.com/fondacijamozaik/posts/1683727885032391 https://www.facebook.com/fondacijamozaik/posts/1682634141808432 https://www.facebook.com/fondacijamozaik/posts/1670060359732477 https://www.facebook.com/fondacijamozaik/posts/1661944483877398 https://www.facebook.com/fondacijamozaik/photos/a.136250249780170.32308.134549053283623/1658461104225736/?type=3 &theater https://www.facebook.com/fondacijamozaik/posts/1649627881775725 https://www.facebook.com/fondacijamozaik/posts/1647050062033507 https://www.facebook.com/fondacijamozaik/photos/a.136250249780170.32308.134549053283623/1639564152782098/?type=3 &theater

SOCIAL BUSINESS TOURNAMENTS, PROMOTIONS IN MUNICIPALITIES, KICKOFF AND DEMO DAY I

With our brand strategy in place and established visual identity we strived for consistency in our implementation. As consistency is the key to successful branding our brand style needed to evoke the same recognition and feeling across all touchpoints. Therefore, for Business Innovation Tournaments, Promotions in Municipalities, Kickoff and Demo Day I, we chose to employ already recognizable imagery and visuals:

VISUAL IDENTITY FOR LONAC.PRO

LONAC.pro is our newly built online community for activism and entrepreneurship. It required a visual identity and the selection process included three rounds of votes by Mozaik team, Power Users and other stakeholders. The chosen logo had to meet set criteria it needed to be:  cool  resourceful  instructive  expert  useful  fun  funny and it had to communicate:  social entrepreneurship  good economy  our values It was important that it doesn’t portray culinary style and we wanted a mild visual link to Mozaik.

Amongst 30 logo proposals this one was chosen:
