Some of the highlights are: EducationalWing: To spread value-based education to children at large, the Balvikas Wing of our state has taken up adoption of several schools where Balvikas classes are being conducted. This is in addition to the ongoing residential Balvikas. An approximate number of 12,000 students are participating in such Balvikas classes. Spiritual Wing: Spiritual fervor has been gaining momentum year after year with regular holding of Sadhana Camps, Study Circles, Mass chanting of Rudram, performing Rudrabhishekams, organizing ‘’Samarpan’’ talks by Swami’s devotees who were blessed with HIS DIVINE association. Mass chanting of Rudram has gained a large momentum and today our state has over 550 veda chanters and over 1 lac Rudraparayan offerings to Bhagawan have been completed. Mass chanting has been done in various famous temples around the state viz Babulnath, Mahalaxmi, Surya Narayan temple etc. Keeping the spirit of the Sarva Dharma Samabhav teachings of our beloved Swami. multi faith events continued to be organized in the various districts throughout the year. Service Wing: Service activities continue unabated with the medical activities including static medical camps, mobile medical vans, outdoor clinics reaching out to lakhs of poor and underprivileged people, many of whom are from remote villages, at their doorsteps. A mega blood donation drive was done on June 8, 2019 around 11 Districts/Samithis in the state participated and over 1600 bottles of blood were collected and given to the Government blood banks. Rain water Harvesting Methods have been deployed in several drought-hit/prone villages giving very encouraging results. Special emphasis has been given to projects concerning upliftment of children in tribal areas and for mitigating malnutrition amongst children across the State. Bhagawan is the only source of our inspiration and guide to enable us to perform such Seva. However, the contribution of our Seva Dal, volunteers and devotees are also immensely important to us to spread the love of Bhagawan far and wide. The with the write-ups in the following pages bring forth the spectrum of the activities conducted during the year, with fervor and utmost devotion. Truly, pictures speak for themselves presented by all the 10 Districts, 33 Samithis and 2 Bhajan Mandalis of Mumbai Metro region. Your’s in His Service Anoop Saxena State President (Mumbai Metro) Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations – an introduction The Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, founded by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in the year 1965, is a service organisation with a spiritual core and base to benefit all mankind irrespective of religion, caste, creed or sect. The Organisation serves as a platform for its members to undertake service and other activities motivated by an urge for one's own transformation with the aim of realizing one's inherent divinity. Without any distinction of religion, nationality, race, socio- economic status, either for those who work in the Organisation or for those who are served by it, the Organisation transcends all barriers leading humanity towards the ideal of 'Fatherhood of God and Brotherhood of Man'. The concept of fees or membership subscription is alien to the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, for there cannot be any fee or subscription for one's journey towards his own self. The organisation functions through its primary units called as Samithis and Bhajan Mandalis of which individuals - from different strata of society, different ethnic groups pursuing different religions and faiths -are members bound by the dictum of Love all, Serve All and pursue their own sadhana towards self-transformation following the path of selfless service to humanity. At no point is an individual asked to follow a certain religion or rituals. On the contrary each is inspired to follow his own faith so as to ensure that a Hindu becomes a better Hindu, a Muslim becomes a better Muslim, a Christian becomes a better Christian and so on. In fact, this spiritual basis inspires everyone to pursue his own religion better by putting into practice Love and Selflessness. That is why the Organisation features in its emblem the symbols of the major religions of the world. “The Organisations named after Me are not to be used for publicizing My Name, or creating a new cult around My worship…. They must render seva (service) to the helpless, the sick, the distressed, the illiterate and the needy. Their seva (selfless service) should not be exhibitionistic; it must seek no reward, not even gratitude or thanks from the recipients. Seva is sadhana (spiritual exercise), not a pastime of the rich and well placed. Introduction It is well known that Mumbai city is comprised of seven islands till 1857. Gradually with invasion the islands were merged by the invaders and now the entire city is one big island. The island city has a rich heritage of natural resources like the forests, lakes mangroves, etc. The city in the past was self sufficient in terms of the basic amenities like housing, food, water, electricity it provided to its inhabitants. However with growing population and pollution the city is now adding to the pressure on the adjacent districts for its water and electricity requirements. It is common knowledge that Mumbai has three lakes i.e. Tulsi, Powai and Vihar that used to provide water to Mumbai residents. Very few actually know that the city is blessed with many more in its BMC jurisdiction. These lakes are either polluted by human sewage or industrial effluents and have remained neglected with increasing urbanization. With depleting forests and water resources it is about time that the existing lakes are given a chance to serve the society again. How do we define lakes? There is considerable uncertainty about defining the difference between lakes and ponds. For example, limnologists have defined lakes as waterbodies which are simply a larger version of a pond or which have wave action on the shoreline, or where wind induced turbulence plays a major role in mixing the water column.

    Spatial Models for Groundwater Behavioral Analysis in Regions of Maharashtra M.Tech Dissertation Report Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Technology by Ravi Sagar P Roll No:10305037 Supervisors Prof. Milind Sohoni Prof. Purushottam Kulkarni a Department of Computer Science and Engineering Indian Institute of Technology Bombay June 2012 Abstract In this project we have performed spatial analysis of groundwater data in Thane and Latur districts of Maharashtra. We used seasonal models developed using the water levels measured at observation wells (by Groundwater Survey and Development Agency, Maharashtra), shape files for watershed boundaries and drainage system, land use and forest cover information from census data in our work. We did regional analysis on groundwater and classified the years into good year if water levels are above the seasonal model in that year or bad year if water levels are below the seasonal model. We observe that the good error (error accumulated by observations above the model) or bad error (error accumulated by observations below the model) classification accounts for a substantial fraction of the error. We have understood the structure and classification of watersheds and used it in our global good/bad year analysis. We then investigated the relationship between site specific spatial attributes of observation wells. We grouped observation wells on the basis of watershed boundaries, elevation levels, natural neighborhood, etc. and performed spatial analysis with in groups and across groups. Much to our surprise, no spatial parameter which we analyzed, yielded any significant insight. The development of regional models will need additional attributes such as land-use, local hydrogeology.
