Facts The historical facts about Monga Wanhua was formerly known as Monga before. (Monga is the transliteration of Moungar in the aboriginal language, meaning the gathering place for canoes), and was a fortress at the juncture of land and lake. 19 The History Facts The South Airport,a military training site The South Airport area was used as a military training site during Japan’s rule and was called Machangding. It was given the name South Airport because it was also used as a military airport. After Taiwan’s retrocession, this area was turned into an Air Force military community and the first Public Housing. Later a golf court for the rich was constructed at the site of South Airport. The former President Chiang Ching-kuo decided to convert this place to the Youth Park to offer leisure services to the public.
