Ger Slattery, klldangan and David Boland, Sltve rmlnes will be direct opponents in today's final. Both players took sixty seconds out to ,,*f1ect on the Impact hurling has on them.

Ger Slattery. Kildangan

Gerald Slattery, who lines out at number six today. first lined out with Kildangan has.been hurling seven years on the Kildangan senior team. It has been a fantastic journey for him and Kildangan. On two occasions he had the honour of been captain - Kildangan won North and County Minor titles in 1998 before leading his side to North, County, Munster and All Ireland Intermediate titles in 2004/05. Indeed he points out that 1998 has been a pivotal moment in Doth his and Kildangan's progress - in particular the trilogy of matches against today's opJ>Onents Silvermines in the 1998 north semi final. He believes this led to a great investment in the youth system of the dub with many players progressing to make the senior team. The biggest influence on his career have been his parents and Seamus Hayes {RIP}. Ger was named North TIpperary Hurler of the year in 2003, won a medal in 2002 with Ul and All Ireland 7s title with Kildangan in 2011. These titles added to county mi~or, three north intermediate medals, a countY. u-21 medal. porth ~nio~ ~urli~g ~edal as well as vanous football medals with the dub. He has rep~~ented TIpperary with distinction In Doth hurling and football. ""\ He highlights the 'all for one' attitude within the dub and the imJ>Ortance of everybody in the dub, of which the panel of players is a part of - these ethos instilled within the dub have led to their great success over the past few years, He believes the right attitude and high workrate are key ingredients if any team is to be successful. Indeed the imJ>Ortance of 'giving something back' is very important within the dub, with many of senior panel coaching juvenile teams. Indeed he himself is the current PRO of the dub and has won county U21 titles with the dub as team manager and coach,

David Boland Silvermines

A couple of years ago two players from the Sitvermines walked into MacDonagh Park for the 2007 North Senior Hurling Final, one said to the other ·Will we ever get to play in a game like this· to which the other fellow laughed and said· I don't think so. How wrong he was!· Over the past few years this team suffered many crushing defeats. These defeats looking back. maybe made the players stronger and tired of losing, The attitude of the players changed and they became more determined to win something for themselves and for their supporters. The support from the club officers was also a huge factor in our success, They supported everything the players and different management teams wanted during the past few years. They deserve great credit as sometimes the work these people are doing behind the scenes goes unnoticed, It wasn't anything in particular but everything in general that has got us to where we are today. Enjoy the match.
