Cast Bios Tori Spelling
CAST BIOS TORI SPELLING (Carol Cartman) – Tori Spelling is a versatile actress whose career spans film, television and theatre. Spelling most recently starred in the VHI series “So NoTORIous” loosely based on the actress’ life. She also starred in the Los Angeles stage production of the highly acclaimed “Maybe Baby, It’s You.” In the two-person show, Spelling portrayed 11 different characters. Spelling, who portrayed Donna Martin on the FOX cornerstone series “Beverly Hills, 90210,” starred in “Scary Movie 2,” the sequel to the 2000 blockbuster smash. She also just completed production on the independent feature “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover,” opposite Poppy Montgomery and Fred Willard. Spelling received critical praise for her performance in the Fine Line Features’ comedy “Trick,” playing an aspiring actress who is constantly coming between her best friend (Christian Campbell) and his potential hunky one-night stand. Her additional feature credits include a cameo in “Scream 2” and a starring role in the Miramax comedy-drama “The House of Yes.” In the film, Spelling garnered kudos for her portrayal of a young college student who meets her fiancée’s dysfunctional family over a stormy Thanksgiving weekend. Josie and the Pussycats: Commercialism and Synthetic Social Identity By Adam Gustafson In this 2001 film, Josie and her band find themselves caught in a whirlwind ascension to the top of the popular music world. Along the way they find that their record label, Mega Records, has been using them in order to brainwash the youths of the world into hyper- consuming machines. Ultimately, Josie defeats the record label and goes on to urge fans of the Pussycats to like them for who they are.1 The irony is that while the plot preaches a stay-true-to- you attitude, the film contains overt product placement to the point of being absurd. In essence, the film does exactly what its protagonists are fighting against. As light as Josie and the Pussycats might be, the film points out larger issues occurring within the realm of popular media. These issues relate to the concepts of hyper-consumption, lifestyle marketing, and social identity. Popular media has positioned itself so that the aesthetic aim of the artwork is eliminated in favor of what is perceived to be a personal relationship with real people. However, the popular artwork has actually become an advertisement that is meant to do more than sell the symbols that allow for inclusion in and identification with a particular lifestyle. The rap song, the horror movie, MTV, poetry by pop artists, and every form of television are marketed in such a way as to promote a specific lifestyle while blurring the distinction between the real and unreal, the artwork and the advertisement, with the aim of creating synthetic social relationships between the consumer and the events occurring within the realm of popular mediums.

BLYTH HUNTER, Noah’s mother, calls and invites him to come for his father’s birthday dinner. When Noah declines Donna is puzzled and suggests she pick up a gift and that they attend. She goes behind Noah’s back and calls Mrs. Hunter to accept the invitation. Steve flirts with a con artist, SOPHIE, he meets while returning wedding gifts for Brandon and Kelly. She tells Steve that she is in college on scholarship and needs a place to live. Steve offers her a room in the Walsh house and is obviously attracted. A wedding guest puts Donna in touch with a clothing storeowner who is looking for a young talented designer. The buyer from Rudman’s, looks at the wedding dress Donna designed for Kelly and wants it on display. David asks his commercial jingle producer, Kyle, if he can be considered for a moving scoring job.
