Downloaded from http://trn.lyellcollection.org/ at University of St Andrews on March 24, 2015 X.—On the Chalk and Sands beneath it {usually termed Green-sand) in the Vicinity of Lyme Regis, Dorset, and Beer, Devon. BY H. T. DE LA BECHE, ESQ. F.R., L. and G. S.S., ETC. [Read December 16th, 1825.] XN presenting' an account of the manner in which the above rocks occur in. the vicinity of Lyme Regis and Beer, I by no means wish to engage in the discussion which has arisen respecting Green-sand; but merely to describe the rocks, as they exist in that neighbourhood. At the same time, I consider it as much to be regretted, that some general term is not given to the sands, marls, and clays which occur beneath the Chalk, as has been done in the case of the Oolite formation: the various parts might then be distinguished by different specific names, and there would be no more impropriety in grouping the Green and Ferruginous sands together, than in uniting under one term the various members of the Oolite formation, and distinguishing them by the names of Great and Inferior oolite, Kimmeridge and Oxford clays*, &c. Some such arrangement as this would prevent much uncertainty: for at pre sent when the term Green-sand is used alone, without further distinction, we may be led to confound two different things. Moreover, we are in want of a general appellation by which to denote these rocks collectively; for we are not to suppose that all the small divisions that may be made in this collection of sands, marls, and clays in the east of England, can be traced into other and distant countries, where, however, the sands, &c., as a mass may be easily recognised.

  • Record of Decision Lease of Land and Building Quaywest Waterpark
Record of Decision Lease of Land and Building Quaywest Waterpark, Goodrington, Paignton Decision Taker Elected Mayor on 23 January 2019 Decision That the Assistant Director of Business Services, in consultation with the Chief Executive, be authorised to grant a lease renewal of 25 years with a further option of 15 years of the land and building known as Quaywest Waterpark, Goodrington, Paignton to Lemur Waterparks Limited (Company Number 06883534) as shown in plan no. 16 145 003. Reason for the Decision It is considered the lease renewal of the land and buildings known as Quaywest Waterpark, Goodrington, Paignton to Lemur Waterparks Limited to be in the best interests of the Council and will secure the long term future of the facility. Implementation This decision will come into force and may be implemented on 31 January 2019 unless the call- in procedure is triggered (as set out in Standing Orders in relation to Overview and Scrutiny). Information Due to the ending of the non-renewable lease for the Waterpark, Goodrington in November 2016, a tender process was undertaken for the granting of a new long lease for the area of the existing Waterpark, go-kart area and Peter Pan area at Goodrington Sands, Tanners Road, Paignton. As part of the tender the bidder set out a series of investment proposals in the facility which would enhance the site and be beneficial to residents, visitors and the Council. A Record of Decision was signed and published on 19 September 2016 based on these terms. The existing operator has continued to operate the facility since this time whilst detailed discussions have been on-going to finalise and agree the exact terms of occupation.

  • Mortimers in the 16Th Century Devon Tax Rolls in 1524, Henry VIII Raised
Mortimers in the 16th century Devon Tax Rolls In 1524, Henry VIII raised a tax in attempt to fund the war with France. This was repeated again in 1543. These records are among the earliest accessible records of Mortimers in Devon and give us a glimpse of the prosperity and distribution of members of the Mortimer family during the first half of the 16th century. Overall, there were 25 men and women listed in 1524, having already spread to 16 parishes. 19 years later, they had absented from several of the aforementioned parishes but expanded to 19 parishes. The name has been standardised to Mortimer for internet search purposes. Little meaning was attached to the spellings of names in the 1500s and spelling varied widely. Mrs Sophie West Exeter Diocesan Mission and Pastoral Secretary The Old Deanery Exeter EX1 1HS 01392 294910 [email protected] 10th February 2021 Mission and Pastoral Measure 2011 Diocese of Exeter Benefice of Burrington, Chawleigh, Cheldon, Chulmleigh, Meshaw, Romansleigh, Thelbridge, Wembworthy with Eggesford, Witheridge with Creacombe, East Worlington and West Worlington The Bishop of Exeter has asked me to prepare a draft Pastoral Scheme in respect of pastoral proposals affecting this benefice. I attach a copy of the draft Scheme and a glossary of terms used. I am sending a copy to all the statutory interested parties, as the Mission and Pastoral Measure requires, and any others with an interest in the proposals. Anyone may make representations for or against all or any part or parts of the draft Scheme (please include the reasons for your views) by e-mail or post (e-mail is preferable at the current time) to the Church Commissioners at the following address no later than midnight on Monday 29th March 2021. Rex Andrew Church Commissioners Church House Great Smith Street London SW1P 3AZ (email [email protected]) (tel 020 7898 1743) If they have not acknowledged receipt of your representation before the above date, please ring or email them to ensure it has been received. For administrative purposes, a petition will be classed as a single representation and they will only correspond with the sender of the petition, if known, or otherwise the first signatory for whom they can identify an address – “the primary petitioner”. If the Commissioners do not receive representations against the draft Scheme, they will make the Scheme and it will come into effect as it provides.

  • Report To: South Hams Executive Date: 14 March 2019 Title: Public Toilet Project Portfolio Area: Environment Services Wards Affe
Report to: South Hams Executive Date: 14 March 2019 Title: Public Toilet Project Portfolio Area: Environment Services Wards Affected: All Relevant Scrutiny Committee: Urgent Decision: N Approval and Y clearance obtained: Date next steps can be taken: Author: Cathy Aubertin Role: Head of Environment Services Practice Contact: [email protected] Recommendations: It is recommended that the Executive resolves to: 1. Approve the installation of Pay on Entry (PoE) equipment at Fore Street public toilets, Kingsbridge. 2. Approve the installation of PoE equipment at the three public toilets in Totnes (Civic Hall, Coronation Road and Steamer Quay) unless an alternative funding solution is offered by the Town Council by 28 February 2019 (verbal update to be given). It is further recommended that the decision on any alternative funding solution offered by the Town Council is assessed for financial and operational viability by the Head of Environment Services Practice in conjunction with the Leader and Portfolio Holder in order to ensure it provides adequate compensation for any income not generated through PoE. 3. Approve the proposed approach of Salcombe Town Council working in partnership with the Salcombe Harbour Board to take over the management and running of the Salcombe Estuary Toilets for a 2 year trial period. This proposal requires a transfer of the 2019/20 service budget to facilitate the pilot and, in the first year, includes a £9,000 contribution towards the roof repairs costs at Mill Bay. It is further recommended that the decision on whether any alternative funding solution offered by the Town Council is financially and operationally viable is taken by the Head of Environment Services Practice in conjunction with the Leader and Portfolio Holder.
