OVERVIEW OF HUMANITARIAN SITUATION

United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs provided the following update: - The general security has remained tense with increase of usage of heavy weapon. As request during last GCM, CMCoord colleagues prepared the power point presentation for the security briefing: • Hotspots: Shyrokine, Lebedynske, Berdiaske ( Cluster) Marinka, , , Opynte, Vodyane, Pisky, Novoluhanske, , Mayorsk, Zaitseve. For Luhanska oblast – Popasanaya, Zolotoe, Krymskoe and Stanitsa Luhanska. • 10-20 incidents per day were registered in average. From CMCoord such figures are related to the recent political developments. The period of 1-20 May was relatively stable with the increase of

violence in late May and beginning of June. • On the 5th of June the sniper activity was register around 5AM in the area of Zolotoe 1 (allegedly from Zolotoe 5). • On the 7th of June the gun artillery 152 mm was used in the area of Novoselivka Druha ( oblast

GCA). 122mm artillery was used in the area of Novoluhanske. • On the 7th of June the agriculture vehicle (tractor) was damaged by the landmine in Popasnaya area, two civilians injured. • CMCoord also briefed participant on the recent changes in the JFO leadership (new JFO commander and deputies). All CIMIC units in JFO area has been rotated recently.

- UNOCHA Kramatorsk briefly provided updates on: • the establishment of County-based pool fund in Ukraine (a.k.a. Ukrainian humanitarian fund, UHF)) as well as ICCG plans to hold a meeting in Kramatorsk on June 13 as well as have a field mission to OCHA will keep partners updated on the developments related to UHF Stanitsa Luhansk EECP on June 14 for the cluster coordinators to be able to assess the crossing conditions for civilians.

• UNOCHA Head of office (HoO) in Ukraine visited NGCA areas as well as Zolotoe 4 and Katerynivka.

Those two locations are commonly considered as herd-to-reach areas. One of the issues underlined by

HoO is the necessity to focus more on the support to elderly who are not ably to leave from those areas

which are constantly under shelling.

• UNOCHA was following up with WASH cluster on the issue of water cuts in Donetsk region. Population in Kleban-Byk, Belokuzminovka and other areas, Konstantinovka and were under the water shortage. WASH Cluster, UNICEF, UNOCHA and People in need went there for joint UNOCHA with WASH Cluster to share the assessment report assessment. The main coping mechanism was the water trucking. However, the educational facilities with those interested. can operate only 14 days with water trucking, health facilities can maintain same healthcare level during 10 days of water trucking only. While the situation in Bakhmut was temporary resolved by the installation of the generator, other areas remained without proper water supply.

The team works with the patient and his relatives if needed. • Training for medical staff on psychological health is planned • The creation of the emergency stock is planned (surgical kits and medication).

Protection cluster completed survey on exciting practices among partners on prevention and response to sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) which is in line with HTC policy framework for PSEA in Ukraine. The findings were discussed with protection partners in Kyiv and in the field. UNICEF commented on the issue with resent water cuts. The situation with humanitarian funding remains difficult. It is not easy to use the funds allocated for addressing humanitarian needs related to the conflict. UNOCHA to disseminate information about the project among partners UNICEF is purchasing the potable bottled water for emergency stock; however, any stock would not be enough for possible long-term water cut. However, NGO Proliska provided the most resent update that the situation there has improved as the facilities are operational and execute the pupping as per the technical requirements. DRC/DDG The study on needs assessment for the children suffered from unexploded remnants of war was finished. The study covers of spectrum of the needs for such families. HelpAge International
