Saturday, April 30, 2011, 8:00 pm: Santa Cruz County Sym- phony Concert 4: Ode to Joy. Featuring the Cabrillo Symphonic Chorus. “All’s well that ends well.” This couldn’t be more true for the Symphony’s 2010/11 season which concludes with a breathtaking performance of Beethoven’s masterpiece, featuring the beloved “Ode to Joy.” Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony is perhaps the most recognized and popular symphonic work ever written. Little Guards & Junior Lifeguards Not a Learn-to-Swim Program SPRING PREPARATION We no longer require a swim test to become eligible for en- rollment in the Little Guard or Junior Lifeguard programs, but your child must know how to swim to participate.

The Junior Guard program requires participants to willingly swim a minimum of 200 to 300 yards in the open ocean, run a minimum of 500 yards and participate in paddling races and other beach competitions daily. The Little Guard program requires daily par- ticipation in entering and exiting through ocean waves and condi- tioning activities including calisthenics, running and beach games. Swimming areas are subject to change due to tide, weather and environmental conditions.

RECOMMENDED PREPARATION AND SKILL LEVELS Little Guards: Practice swimming 25 yards continuously and treading water for one minute. Passing Red Cross Swimmer Level 4 class and up is strongly encouraged.

Junior Guards: Practice swimming a minimum of 200 yards con- tinuously (8 laps) and treading water for three minutes. Passing Red Cross Swimmer Level 6 class is strongly recommended.
