In less skilled hands , it's likely the Cat's fantasy would be a pretty repellent one. The series is popular among fans for its whimsical comedy and for its strong focus on unique characters. Rimmer, despite living his own far more outlandish and spectacular fantasy, feels that Lister's is better after he realizes that they are in a game, because it shows that Lister is more content than he is, that he doesn't need a lot to make him happy. Lister Danny John-Jules Military type uncredited Llewellyn Williams He then placed himself in a scenario where all his stocks abruptly crashed, he lost all of his money, his body was repossessed, and he was forced to occupy a female prostitute's body, then dragged into hiding from the law, experiencing verbal, physical and sexual abuse at the hands of violent criminals, and finally pimped out by them, as well as coming to realise that his idea of the perfect woman - the woman he was in fact engaged to - was the spitting image of his own mother. A person like Cat who has such a huge ego that he truly believes he could get ANYTHING, can get anything, while Rimmer's initial fantasy, while still egocentric, had to create the semi-plausible explanation of him using the crew's initial offers to advertise various products and sell their stories so that he could earn the money to fund research into a 'solidgram' body for himself. When challenged about the ridiculousness of his fantasy, Cat claims that he never thought his acquisition of these things was strange as he concluded that he deserved it due to him being so good-looking. Author: Augusta Amelia Stuart Title: Cava of Toledo; or, the Gothic Princess Place of publication: London Publisher: Printed at the Minerva-Press, for A. K. Newman and Co. Date of publication: 1812 Edition: 1st ed. Number of volumes: 5 CAVA OF TOLEDO. A ROMANCE. Lane, Darling, and Co. Leadenhall-Street. CAVA OF TOLEDO; OR, The Gothic Princess. A ROMANCE. IN FIVE VOLUMES BY AUGUSTA AMELIA STUART, AUTHOR OF LUDOVICO’S TALE; THE ENGLISH BROTHERS; EXILE OF PORTUGAL, &c. &c. Fierce wars, and faithful loves, And truths severe, in fairy fiction drest. VOL. I. LONDON: PRINTED AT THE Minerva Press, FOR A. K. NEWMAN AND CO. LEADENHALL-STREET. 1812. PREFACE. THE author of the following sheets, struck by the account historians have given of the fall of the Gothic empire in Spain, took the story of Cava for the foundation of a romance: whether she has succeeded or not in rendering it interesting, must be left to her readers to judge. She thinks it, however, necessary to say she has not falsified history; all relating to the war is exact: the real characters she has endeavoured to delineate such as they were; —Rodrigo—count Julian—don Palayo—Abdalesis, the Moor—queen Egilone—Musa—and Tariff, are drawn as the Spanish history represents them. Cava was never heard of from her quitting Spain with her father; of course, her adventures, from that period, are the coinage of the author’s brain. The enchanted palace, which Rodrigo broke into, is mentioned in history. Her fictitious characters she has moulded to her own will; and has found it a much more difficult task than she expected, to write an historical romance, and adhere to the truth, while she endeavoured to embellish it.

She opened the bathroom door just far enough that she could slip inside, any farther and it would squeak. She applied a fresh coat of make-up and forced herself to breathe evenly. He won’t wake up. He hasn’t yet. At the top of the stairs, she paused. “Mommy?” Her three-year-old daughter was standing in the doorway to her room. “Go back to sleep, sweetie,” Catherine said. “I had a bad dream. The bad faeries chased me.” “The bad faeries won’t get you. You’re too good.” “Can I sleep with you and daddy?” Catherine thought quickly. If she woke Max up, he would realize she was gone. Emily always slept in the car. And she probably wouldn’t remember this anyway. “I’m going out. Do you want to come, sweetheart?” Emily nodded and ran to grab her teddy bear. “Let’s be really, really quiet,” Catherine said, “like good faeries.” Emily nodded gravely and rose up on her tiptoes, and the two made their way out to the car. Emily was asleep before they left the neighborhood.

Orphaned at a young age, Jane is placed in the care of her wealthy aunt Mrs Reed, who neglects her in favour of her own three spoiled children. Jane is branded a liar, and Mrs Reed sends her to the grim and joyless Lowood School where she stays until she is 19. Determined to make the best of her life, Jane takes a position as a governess at Thornfield Hall, the home of the alluring and unpredictable Edward Rochester. It is here that Jane’s journey into the world, and as a woman, begins. Writer Sandy Welch (North And South, Magnificent Seven), producer Diederick Santer (Shakespeare Retold – Much Ado About Nothing) and director Susanna White (Bleak House) join forces to bring this ever-popular tale of passion, colour, madness and gothic horror to BBC One. Producer Diederick Santer says: “Sandy’s brand-new adaptation brings to life Jane’s inner world with beauty, humour and, at times, great sadness. We hope that her original take on the story will be enjoyed as much by long- term fans of the book as by those who have never read it.” The serial also stars Francesca Annis as Lady Ingram, Christina Cole as Blanche Ingram, Lorraine Ashbourne as Mrs Fairfax, Pam Ferris as Grace Poole and Tara Fitzgerald as Mrs Reed.

A VIEW TO A CURE: NARRATIVE QUEST AND HEALING TRANSFORMATION IN THE WORK OF REYNOLDS PRICE Suzanne Shrell Bolt A dissertation submitted to the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of English. Chapel Hill 2007 Approved by: Joseph M. Flora Fred Hobson Edward Donald Kennedy George S. Lensing Kimball King © 2007 Suzanne Shrell Bolt ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ii ABSTRACT SUZANNE SHRELL BOLT: A View to a Cure: Narrative Quest and Healing Transformation in the Work of Reynolds Price (Under the direction of Joseph M. Flora) Reynolds Price is a writer of serious religious fiction whose unique evangelium reaches beyond orthodox Christianity for some of its deepest expressions. At the heart of his work is a line of radiant, threatened protagonists whom Price calls “sacrificial people. .lambs in whose blood we bathe, whose blood we drink . in the sense of the god whom men kill and eat.” And the nature of such physical and spiritual grace—its swift destruction and occasional, surprising redemption—is one of the most crucial, recurrent mysteries Price explores. As sinner, battler, victim, object of Grace, and vehicle of revelation, Price’s central type surfaces memorably in characters such as Milo Mustian ( A Generous Man ), Todd Eborn ( Love and Work ), Rob Mayfield ( A Great Circle ), Neal Avery ( New Music ), Raphael Noren ( The Tongues of Angels )—even Price’s father, Will ( Clear Pictures and the sketch “Life for Life”). Echoing the dynamics of Jesse Weston’s core grail scene (with its ritualized gesture of identification, reconciliation, spiritual revelation, and healing), each narrative staging resembles a kind of passion play.
