A central component of Pace’s presentation in Basel will be Splendid Actor, a vibrant sculpture by John Chamberlain from 1989. Robert Mangold’s remarkable Four Color Frame Painting #15 will also take centre stage. Running until 31 July 2019, Pace in Geneva presents the artist’s first solo exhibition in Switzerland in ten years, and his fifteenth solo exhibition with Pace since 1992. On view are paintings and works on paper spanning Mangold’s career and highlighting the artist’s mastery of abstraction.

Yin Xiuzhen’s Portable City: Moscow (2013), a spectacular installation featuring a suitcase, used clothes, light, map, and sound will also be on display in Basel. Three works by Chinese artist Yin Xiuzhen are on view in May You Live In Interesting Times at the 58th edition of the Venice Biennale. Curated by Ralph Rugoff, the main exhibition features works by 79 international artists, including Yin Xiuzhen’s Bookshelf No. 7 (2009-2013), Dong Fang Hong 1 (2014), and Trojan (2016-2017). Best known for her works that incorporate second-hand objects, Yin uses her artwork to explore modern issues of globalization and homogenization.

In Tuttle’s lyrical Thoughts of Trees works (2016 – 2017), materials and presentation are interrelated, with the artist consistently guiding the viewer’s aesthetic experience. Tuttle draws beauty out of humble materials, inspiring reflection on the splendor and fragility of the world around us.
