Borrowing with a Nook Simple Touch or other Standalone eReader

To read a on your standalone Nook, Sony or Kobo, you will need to download the book to a desktop computer (PC or MAC) and transfer it to your reader. Note: Standalone Kindles are not compatible with cloudLibrary. See separate instructions for Kindle Fire, which is compatible.

Install and Configure the Software for Borrowing (a one-time procedure)

Download a Reader App by clicking on the button in the upper right corner of the screen.

Click on the logo for Mac OS or Windows, depending on your model of computer. Click on the blue Download App button and follow the instructions.

When you first open the app, you may be prompted to enter an Adobe ID. If you have an Adobe ID from using Overdrive e‐ , the app will recognize your ID and invite you to click Activate.

If you have never set up an Adobe ID, you can register here: https://www.adobe.com. It is free.

If you don’t receive a message about an Adobe ID, proceed with the instructions below.

Login to the app by choosing the state and library. Enter your library card number in the Username field and your PIN/password in the Password field. The app on your e‐reader ill also require you to click on the End User License Agreement and click Agree. Then Login.

Checking Out and Transferring eBooks

You can browse the e‐book collection and check out books using the app on your computer or the website at https://ebook.yourcloudlibrary.com/library/pfpl.

Shelves are featured items. Categories are subject areas and genres. Search will let you look for a book by title or author. My Books will show you what you currently have checked out or have on hold. When reading on a computer, EBook will take you to the book you are currently reading.

If you see Add to Hold List instead of Check Out, the book is checked out to someone else. To get on the waiting list, click Add to Hold List. The first time you place a book on hold, you will be asked or your email address. You will not receive a notification until you check your email and confirm our address.

To check out a book, tap the cover and select the green Check Out button. The book will be added to My Books. Tap or click on the cover of a book to begin reading it.

To transfer a book to a Nook (or other ereader) that doesn’t support apps, first download the book to the PC app, and then connect your e‐reader to the computer with its USB connector. Go to the My Books tab on the PC app. Directly below My Books, you will see Nook connected. Choose the book you would like to transfer and click the green Transfer to Device button. To safely eject your e‐reader, go to My Computer, right‐click on your e‐reader, and select Eject.

To Return books early from the website, go to My Books and click the red Check In button to the right.
