Green Meadows Splash Pad Construction - April 27, 2018

Green Meadows Park will soon be the site of a new splash pad. Our Public Works Department is busy preparing the site for construction. The City is working with Vortex, Inc. for the installation of the splash pad. “The contractor is going to take over the splash pad itself. We are going to build the pump house and the bathrooms,” said Mike Lane, with the Buda Public Works Department. The splash pad contains over 19 features, including water tunnels, directional spray jets, geysers, and other large amenities. Water for the splash pad will come from the Goforth Water SUD. The water will be treated by sand filters, chlorine and UV to ensure a clean water supply. The splash pad is only operational when user activated through a push button system. Staff has the control over setting operational hours and features to ensure efficient use of utility costs. Operations and maintenance will be done exclusively by the City Parks and Recreation Department. Our Public Works Department will finish working at the site over the next couple of weeks and then the contractor will come in. The splash pad is expected to open sometime this summer. The splash pad is being constructed as part of the Proposition 5 Parks and Trails Improvements. Prop 5 is part of a $55 million bond approved by voters in November of 2014.
