24 September 2014 Mr Ravin Krishnan RSPO Secretariat Sdn Bhd Unit A-37-1, Level 37, Tower a Menara UOA Bangsar No 5 Jln Bangsar 24 September 2014 Mr Ravin Krishnan RSPO Secretariat Sdn Bhd Unit A-37-1, Level 37, Tower A Menara UOA Bangsar No 5 Jln Bangsar Utama 1 59000 Kuala Lumpur Dear Ravin KUALA LUMPUR KEPONG BERHAD (“KLK”) - Complaint : Collingwood Plantation Pte Ltd/ KLK We thank you for your letters dated 23 September 2014 and 5 August 2014. Firstly, we would like to reiterate that as a RSPO member, KLK is committed to adhering to the RSPO Principles and Criteria (P&C) at all times, our commitment to which is demonstrated in our past actions. There is no immediate plan to start development on Portion 5. However, should KLK decide to undertake any future development on Portion 5, all relevant P&C will be adhered to and complied with. On the question of ownership of land where there is an affidavit referring to Portion 5 in Milinch/Section Kupari, we would like to state that based on our latest checks of the Lands Department Computerised Registry called LAGIS, it appears that there are two (2) areas called Portion 5. The Portion 5 land which is a State Lease issued to our subsidiary, ANG Agro Forest Management Ltd., is located in Milinch/Section Murua. The Complaints Panel may want to note that Milinch Kupari and Milinch Murua are 2 separate and distinct areas. We append the printouts from LAGIS for your ease of reference. We would also like to state that we have not received any show cause letter or notice of forfeiture from the relevant PNG Government authority, the issuance of which is mandatory for a forfeiture to be valid and effective. From our recent searches at the Land Office, there is no notice of forfeiture in the Land Office files, and the office copy of the State Lease over Portion 5, Milinch/Section Murua (which has been physically viewed by our officer) is still in the name of our subsidiary, ANG Agro Forest Management Ltd., with no cancellation. Furthermore, the original Owner’s Copy of the State Lease over Portion 5, Milinch/Section Murua is still safely in our possession and no notice has been issued to us to surrender this title document. We hope that the above clarifies the matter. KLK is open to dialogue and remains a committed member of the RSPO. Yours faithfully KUALA LUMPUR KEPONG BERHAD Sin Chuan Eng Senior General Manager Sustainability /Encl. • Sports Facilities Development Towards Sustainable Community: a Case Study of Kuala Lumpur
SPORTS FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY: A CASE STUDY OF KUALA LUMPUR 1Maassoumeh Barghchi, 1Dasimah bt Omar, and 2Mohd Salleh Aman 1Department of Town and Regional Planning, Faculty of Architecture, Planning & Surveying Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam, 40450 Selangor, Malaysia 2Sports Centre, University of Malaya (UM), 50603 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Abstract Sports and sports facilities development have improved rapidly over the past years in Malaysia. However, such improvements are inadequate compared to the overall development of sports at international level. In recent years sport is getting more and more influential and it will continue to grow in importance, even for developing countries. Increase in the amount of public money being spent on sports facilities, at the same time, increase in the number of sports facilities as well as increasingly importance of sustainability necessitate demand to investigate issues surrounding sports facilities development especially in Kuala Lumpur as the regional and national centre for sporting activities. The long-term benefits to cities and local communities need to achieve more initiative by decision-makers. However, sustainability is more important for sports facilities due to requirement of huge money for construction, ancillary needs and constant maintenance costs. This research aims to examine the effectiveness and intangible benefits of sports facilities in Kuala Lumpur through residents' perceptions. Four case studies each selected from one of the four managing zones of sports facilities developed by Kuala Lumpur City Hall provide information for this research. The research able to rank the case studies based on residents' perception towards their attitude about facilities and programmes, using of the facilities, and respondents’ willingness to pay.

Section 2 Statement of Need Projek Mass Rapid Transit Laluan 2 : Sg. Buloh – Serdang - Putrajaya Detailed Environmental Impact Assessment SECTION 2 : STATEMENT OF NEED 2. SECTION 2 : STATEMENT OF NEED 2.1 TRAFFIC CONGESTION - THE CHALLENGE OF THE FUTURE Traffic congestion and the efficient mobility of the urban population will be one of our main challenges in the coming decades, both in Malaysia as well as in the rest of the world. Traffic congestion is a drain on our productivity, contributes to air pollution, is energy inefficient and reduces the quality of life. In the Klang Valley, traffic congestion has become a major problem due to the increasing number of vehicles and the urban sprawl. Over the past few decades, the expanding population in the Klang Valley has led to an urban sprawl - the KL metropolitan area has extended from the city centre to over a 20 km radius. It has expanded outwards from the city centre to the adjacent administrative areas of Petaling, Gombak, Ampang Jaya, Subang, Kajang, Hulu Langat and Putrajaya. This urban sprawl has serious impacts including long commuting distances to work, high car dependence and higher per capita infrastructure costs. The urban sprawl also puts a tremendous amount of strain on the city’s transportation infrastructure. The major highways and the ring road around the city are already congested. During peak hours, traffic is often reduced to a crawl and lengthy queues are not uncommon. The major road systems which have been constructed, under construction or committed are unlikely to be able to satisfy Klang Valley’s needs even to 2020.
