We are thrilled that you are joining us for the 25th Anniversary season of CMFS. Jennifer Walvoord, violin Bradley Wong, clarinet Antione Hackney, viola Wendy Rose, bassoon We started celebrating this landmark season earlier this spring with a wonderful concert Alicia Gregorian Sawyers, cello Paul Austin, horn featuring Andrew Le and Meredith Arwady at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts. We thank the SCA for inviting us into their home and for ‘saluting’ our anniversary with this special event. Serenade in D Major for Flute, Violin, and Viola, Op. 25 Entrata: Allegro The celebration continued with a first-ever concert at the Lakeshore Chapel on July 1st,, Tempo ordinario d’un minuetto another ‘salute’, this time from our friends in this historic lakeshore community. Hopefully, Allegro molto many of you were able to attend one of these special events. Andante con variazioni We have aggressively increased our education efforts this year, our own way of honoring our Allegro scherzando e vivace past and our founders, with a series of programs in area elementary schools in May, a trio of Adagio – Allegro vivace e disinvolto special Young Listener Concerts scheduled for July and August at the SCA (check the website Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) for details), and even more in-school education events scheduled for the Fall.

We cannot let pass the opportunity to especially thank the key contributors who stepped up Three Shanties for Wind Quintet, Op. 4 and helped us gather the funds needed to make these extra efforts possible this year. Their Allegro con brio special donations gave our Education Fund (established in memory of Wayne Richards) the Allegretto semplice boost it needed to plan extra programs this year and to start exciting new educational ventures Allegro vivace for the years ahead, they brought our Joan Conway Young Artists Program fund to within a hair’s breadth of achieving its endowment goal and they funded the extra large roster of Malcolm Arnold (1921-2006) artists you will enjoy on our stage this year. You will find the names of these 25th Anniversary supporters listed in this program. We are blessed with such generous patrons! And we all, Breakdown Tango as individuals and as a community, benefit from their gifts. Op. 25, No. 6 Paul Austin, horn Andrew Le, piano Praised by the "Holzminden Zeitung" for his "absolutely stunning way of playing the horn", and "" for being Haijin Choi, violin "tender on the warm French Horn", Paul Austin enjoys a multi- Adam Liebert, violin faceted career as soloist, chamber musician, orchestral player, Jennifer Walvoord, violin and pedagogue. Recent appearances include a recital at the Martha Walvoord, violin 2012 International Double Reed Society's annual conference Barbara Corbató, viola with bassoonist Wendy Rose, a concerto with the Holland Leslie Van Becker, viola Symphony Orchestra in 2010, and performances in the USA and Europe with Alicia Eppinga, cello organist Gregory Crowell. Jack Unzicker, bass 2012 marks Paul Austin's 12th season with the Chamber Music Festival of Widmung, Op. 25, No. 1 Saugatuck. He has also performed at summer music festivals in Banff, Fontana, and Southern Illinois, and has been a member of the Grand Rapids Symphony horn Robert Schumann (1810-1856), section since 1999. Paul has premiered compositions written for him by William Arr. for solo piano by Franz Liszt (1811-1886) Brusick, Chin-Chin Chen, Eric Ewazen, James Nicholas, Robert Shechtman, Julianna Trivers, and James Woodman. He has been critically acclaimed on three recordings Duos for Violin and Bass which have been released by OgreOgress Productions, featuring music by John Tango Cage, Morton Feldman, and Robert Shechtman. Three In One Perpetuum As a teacher, Dr Austin has served as horn faculty at colleges in , George B. Chave (b. 1959) Louisiana, and Ohio. He actively promotes historical instruments and is the author of "A Modern Valve Horn Player's Guide to the Natural Horn". Along with Pantomime and Ritual Fire Dance from El Amor Brujo for Sextet Wendy Rose and clarinetist Bradley Wong, Paul presents educational programs to Manuel de Falla (1876-1946) elementary school children in west Michigan on behalf of the CMFS.

Grace Byrd loves chamber music, and is excited to once again Allegro moderato be a part of the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck. She is Adagio currently the violist of the Kalamazoo Symphony’s Burdick- Allegro molto Thorne String Quartet, the Tira-Mi-Su Trio (with her husband and pianist Joseph Byrd, and violinist Julia Maley), and serves as Max Bruch (1838-1920) Assistant Principal violist of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. She has played in chamber ensembles in Rochester, 34 New York; Heidelberg, Germany; Medford, Oregon, and throughout Michigan. Haijin Choi is a section violinist of the Grand Rapids Symphony and an enthusiastic violin teacher. I am PARTIAL UNDERWRITERS ($500-$999) Saugatuck Center for the Arts pursuing a major in Speech Pathology with a Spanish minor. I am Alan McPhail John and Lois Workman also actively involved in the music program at Calvin, where I play Margaret McDermott violin in the orchestra, participate in chamber music, and take Glen and Janeen Fowler private lessons under the instruction of Dr. David Reimer. My Suzy Richardson and Phil Miller previous instructors have included Christine Witte, Tammy Clark, and Jenny Walvoord.

I am so excited for the opportunity to be a part of CMFS this summer. So much has to happen to put on a performance, and although I have been both a performer and an audience member before, I have never been a part of the Our Mission performance that happens behind stage. I am looking forward to working with and getting The Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck is dedicated to to know many new people this summer at CMFS! perpetuating chamber music – keeping it vibrant and alive. We present concerts in an atmosphere that encourages a sense of belonging and works Education Concerts to involve the audience as an active part of the experience. We provide an opportunity for musicians to share their enthusiasm for their instruments and Young Listeners Concerts music as they present the challenge of the new and the comfort of the familiar. July 13, July 26 and August 9, 2012 During the 2012 concert season, the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck will sponsor three free Young Listeners Concerts in the bright, comfortable space of the Saugatuck Center for the Arts, 400 Culver Street in Saugatuck. These concerts will give young people a chance to discover the fascination of classical instruments and the opportunity to hear some of our finest artists present brief programs designed to delight and inspire them.
